  1. Re: Poker Mags... I agree with you Steve, and we don't want to totally alienate newcomers. But our target audience is the more advanced poker player. Our new readers hopefully come from players who are looking to take their game to the next level. Slapdash. I think that is fair comment. I'm not sure the UK poker market is ready for a really highbrow mag just yet, but we are increasingly looking to add more for the higher stakes players. I would say though that covering poker tournaments with any degree of analysis is very very hard without seeing hole cards... And thanks to everyone for the kind words. We really do appreciate it, and it means a lot. We welcome any feedback. PM me on here if you have specific comments as I don't want to derail this thread.

  2. Re: WSOP Event 2, $1500 NL holdem. JAMES AKENHEAD (London UK) HEADS UP

Was he Ian Harris in disguise' date=' ALun ?[/quote'] lol. he is my new poker hero! You should get some lessons from him Brian. He knows the value of shoving sooooted 6 gappers. To be fair Akenhead did seem to be 3-betting his pf raises a lot.... Meh, still a sick sick way to go out. You going to Vegas this year Bri?
  3. Re: Vote PuntersLounge

I predict that PL will win the vote with 1' date='283,652 votes narrowly pipping HendonMob into second on 1,044,325 votes :tongue2 (though, as pointed out on Gutshot forum, we could all be pipped to it by a late entry from Ant and Dec :tongue2)[/quote'] :lol. Vnh.
  4. Re: Inside Poker - Deposit $5 and get $1050 WSOP sat seat I have been told that as long as your account is not banned or frozen you should be fine. There will still be the standard restrictions as stated below Everest Poker - Terms of agreement for play 2.3 Individuals Only. Player must play as an individual. Each Player is only allowed to have one account. Any Player determined to be playing as part of a professional or coordinated syndicate, playing on multiple accounts, or in any way in collusion with another Player will be banned, all winnings will be void and all funds in Player's Account will be forfeited. Good luck to all PLers who enter.

  5. Re: Inside Poker - Deposit $5 and get $1050 WSOP sat seat I would not recommend anyone who was removed from the tournament to try to get back in via this route. Any issues that were flagged up by their systems initially will doubtless be flagged up again. And it would hurt a lot more to have this prize taken away. Everest's intention is for this to be a compensation for those that missed out altogether to apologise for their error. Not as compensation for those who were removed from the list. It's not a 'new' freeroll as such. We're deliberately using the password from the May issue so it's not open to readers who didn't buy that mag. It's only open for registration 24 hours before. The only difference is it is also open to existing account holders - as I imagine it would be too complex to host otherwise. In other words either it's open to existing customers also or it doesn't happen.

  6. Re: Inside Poker - Deposit $5 and get $1050 WSOP sat seat It's not a cop out mate, it was our only option. The promotion went pear-shaped on Thursday. We sent the next issue to the printers the day before. We will put something in the following issue, but that will only get to readers in about 6 weeks time. As to Gaf's point, I think they are one and the same thing. Telling us the wrong info is a human error as I think glceud mentioned on the previous page. I hope nobody thinks I'm treating this lightly or that I am not extremely dissapointed by the situation. And I sympathise with those who missed out. But I do understand mistakes happen.

  7. Re: Inside Poker - Deposit $5 and get $1050 WSOP sat seat

Both myself and my girlfriend set up accounts and registered fine yesterday. However while I'm still in' date=' she's been unregistered. Not even an email explaination. We don't even live together. She's extremely pissed off! Is there anything that you can try and do about this Alun?[/quote'] If you want to email me the details I can try to find out something more on Tuesday, but I don't want to get your hopes up. In matters like this the sites usually refuse to discuss an individual case with a third party. And to be honest I think this is a pretty good idea as a rule. But I can always ask for further clarification. Likewise anyone else can PM me or email me.
  8. Re: Inside Poker Mag This Month

Alun - I presume Everest also proof read the article before going to print?
Yes someone at Everest did see the page before it was printed. But people make mistakes. I'm not really going to add anything to the statement, not because I'm being evasive or anything like that, but that pretty much says it all. And it's not right for me to say anything more once they have admitted full responsibility for their mistake.

I wonder if a pattern is emerging here. Dear ColUFC1, Thank you for playing at Everest Poker. Your security is important to us. For your protection, your player account has been restricted due to unusual activity. If you would like to resume using your player account, please contact our Customer Service Department via our Player Support Form. Kind Regards, Everest Poker Player Support Team
Did either of you guys already have an account with Everest?
  10. Re: The Mole LOL. Am not questioning your poker knowledge mate - I just meant what I said in that I was interested to know how you got to the conclusion. Your thought process is way more interesting than mine. :notworthy Just wondered why you ruled out something like QJ or that he would never fast play something like 44 or 10J. I don't play these stakes so I don't know. I must admit I did just scan read it and missed the size of the overbet so most of my initial comments don't apply. :$ Edit: I was also wondering what your history was with this player. And if you rated him.

  11. Re: The Mole Interested to know how you arrived at that conclusion. Is it based on knowledge of that specific player that he wouldn't play top pair (or an underpair/mid pair) that way?

  12. Re: Larsluzak He's a 20-year-old Finnish kid Sami Kelopuro. Made an absolute killing on the big Full Tilt and Prima games last year. Almost $2m I think. Plays as LrsLzk on Prima. Also plays on Ladbrokes I think - didn't realise he played on Boss too. I would have thought you could find a softer game mate!

  13. Re: WPT Mag - Blue Square GUKPT Freeroll In our case (InsidePoker) it's because we have been running them a long time and they have generated serious momentum. It's much the same as the reason the Betfair Grand Prix gets such big numbers in PokerPlayer. People get used to their being a GUKPT tournament each month and look forward to playing in it. Plus everyone wants to win a GUKPT don't they?

  14. Re: Inside Poker Mag This Month Hello All Yes it is a really amazing promotion, and :clap to Everest for putting it on. Ed you really are a cynical man aren't you? We did ask all those same questions to Everest, and there was no catch as far as we could see. Just a fantastic offer for anyone setting up a new account. Bear in mind this is Everest's flagship sattellite tournament for the WSOP. And as the table sponsors I'm sure they want to send as many players as possible who have qualified through the site. Also note the promotion only runs for a week, is only for new account holders (and not existing account holders opening a new account) and the tournament is capped at 2,000 runners and there will be a good chunk of those taken up by players qualifying through the normal routes on the site. It's not a special tournament just for IP readers. So think about that before any thoughts of sharing the bonus code enter anyone's head. Let's hope we have a lot of IP readers playing in the main event this year due to Everest's generosity. I've got my fingers crossed. Cheers Alun p.s. Cheers Steve. Appreciate that mate. Take a look at Tuchman's article too - it's a good read.

  15. Re: Neteller Posts Massive Loss Neteller made so much money during the good old US years they should be fine for a while. "We estimate the group will end 2008 with net cash of $98.7 million and believe the majority of the $33 million that will be received from the sale of its Calgary building, can be returned to shareholders, via either share buybacks or a special dividend or a combination of the two as we go through 2008," said Numis analyst Richard Carter. As to swift payouts. I've also found Ladbrokes, BlueSq, Party and PokerStars to be pretty rapid just based on personal experience. Although Party have started imposing small charges on debit card deposits.... I would have thought the payments were processed by the company rather than the network, so any of the UK bookies will be a good bet. The above mentioned are also very good also. 3-4 days max.
