  1. 5.45 Ayr
    Carthage
Michael Appleby sends Carthage to Ayr as his sole representative. Currently in very good form (he has won his last two races)
he puts up Miss S Brotherton up for the ride. Serena has proved she is a top amateur hitting strike rates of 18.52%, 18.37, 22.22
in the last few years. Carthage is the best horse in the race, conditions suit so I am hoping that he can get his head in front.
    Backed with PP at 11/2

  2. Damn Eastern Racer has been withdrawn

So going for my next best

    Biotic 8.45 Windsor.

The price on this is now 11/2 with Bet365 however I picked it and backed it at 11/1 with PP so this is the price I would have put

up last night had Eastern Racer been withdrawn then. What price do I get?  I have uploaded the file below.

  3. Think that Zorovan has a decent outsiders chance in the 5.15 at Carlisle. Currently dropping down the handicap he ran off 67 last time out where he was slow out of the stalls and when trying to make a move was hampered enough to destroy any chance he had, he was only beaten 5.88 lengths in the end and he is now running off 65. If he gets out of the stalls smarter he needs to be kept up with the pace to make an impact, he can handle making all the running and if he gets away he might take some catching. Trainer, Keith Dalgliesh  is a regular winner here and he is ridden by Kevin Stott who doesn't get the credit he deserves, but if he's good enough to ride some of the Godolphin horses then he's good enough for me.
    12/1 Bet365

  4. All these have the ability to win the races they are in judged upon the oppostion they face and the rating they have been
given, however some have not won for a long time so it's a hit and hope job. I hope for one winner minimum, for my nap (see nap page) I'm going for Zorovan marginally in favour over the others.

    Make On Madam 4.35 Redcar
    4/1 Bet365

    Zorovan 5.15 Carlisle
    12/1 Bet365

    Eastern Racer 5.45 Carlisle
    14/1 Paddy Power

    Biotic 8.45 Windsor
    11/1 Paddy Power

  5. Update

The going has changed at Newmarket to just G-F, I think it will keep firming up so this ramble last night about Mr Pocket needs readjustment as Shamshon and Majestic Hero will be more suited by the ground. Mr Pocket should still be to the fore and may still prevail as he's well handicapped but if it picking now I'd go for Shamshon instead. Not a backing race for me anyway. I went for Helovaplan, Carlton Frankie (Non Runner) and my nap in the 8.50 at Doncaster. More sunshine in Donny please.

    Newmarket 5.35
Mr Pocket looks thrown in on the evidence of what he has achieved previously.  Winning last time out he has been raised to a rating of 74 but defied a rating of 76 to win at Bath last year. 3/1

  6. Doncaster 8.50
    Ma Fee Heela
Supremely well handicapped due to putting in some below par performances. However I think that the softer ground doesn't suit him as well as G-F. He has been running against better horses than these so the slight ease should assist him. Usually ridden off the pace, this may help him down the straight at Doncaster.  The cheekpieces are re-introduced here which also may bring about some improvement.  This is his third run for David O'Meara who goes well here and was well backed lto. 13/2 Bet365

  7. Here are my ramblings as I try and find my Nap for tomorrow

    Thirsk 3.55
    Helovaplan
Open to improvement after just nine runs, he is in form after a decent 3rd of 10 off the same rating at Musselburgh lto. Sure to improve for the pipe opener and also a CD winner. Most of the other are out of form except the main danger Midnight Macchiato who could push Helovaplan close.

    Thirsk 5.05
    Carlton Frankie
This looks a lot easier than the hot 5f dash he took part in at York on Wednesday. He finished 4th there, it looks like he has improved form 3-4yo, he gets his ground again and has no ratings increase.  5/1 Bet365

    Newmarket 5.35
Mr Pocket looks thrown in on the evidence of what he has achieved previously.  Winning last time out he has been raised to a rating of 74 but defied a rating of 76 to win at Bath last year. 3/1 Skybet

    Doncaster 5.50
    Clenymistra
Won first time out last season so make go well again. Decently handicapped and well handicapped if improving from 3-4yo. Looks like stable's second string as David O'Meara's Ingleby Hollow is current favourite, however the horse doesn't know that. Snookered looks the main danger to me.

    Uttoxeter 8.05
    Get Ready Freddy
Won a chase off a 100 late last season, resumes off 87. CD winner, trainer in form.  Might need the race.
    3/1 PP

    Bangor 2.50
    Equus Millar
Came good last time, can't see the extra weight stopping him against this lot.
    7/2 PP

  8. Richard Fahey bigged this one up on ITV4 after George Bowen won on Wednesday, then had another two winners. I'll take a chance on what the trainer thinks. As usual it's a little downplayed on the RF blog "We like her and I don’t know why she was such a big price at Musselburgh on debut. I suppose she was drawn wide and looked quite hairy in her coat, but she’s better in that department now. She’s quite nice and while she’ll need to be smart to win this, I think she’ll run well."

She has plenty of opposition though but if it doesn;t win then Fahey owes me 20 quid!

    York 2.20

    Nicki's Angel

    Coral 8/1

  9. York 2.20
    Copper Knight
Has been given a chance by the handicapper dropping to a pound of his last winning mark of 95.  Although probably best on good going he put up a decent effort over GF when 3rd in a class 1 race last June off a mark of 101. Although not getting his head in front again last season he was never beaten far regardless of going or class. Copper Knight has won 3 times in his career and
all 3 have been notched up in May so this maybe the time to catch him right. He is a course winner and Dave Allan takes the ride in preference to Tim Easterby's other runners East Street Revue and Excessable. This is also the first time the jockey has partnered the selection since he won on him here last year, in fact he has never finished out of the top
two when aboard. The jockey has also won this race for the last two years so knows the way home.
Draw 3 should not be a problem. Copper Knight sire is Sir Prancealot who's offspring improve from 4yo and
upward. The downside is that the selections has not had the benefit of a run this season however he
finished second on his seasonal debut in 2017. Think that Edward Lewis and Holmeswood rate major dangers.
    Bet365 10/1

  10. Can't say a lot cos I'm at work but I think these two are well handicapped on  old form

     York 2.55

    Private Matter

    Yarmouth 4.55

    Wild Acclaim

Have gone for Highgarden in the 4.05 York all reasoning in the nap section but basically got 11/4 in what seems to be a 2 horse race.

Hope it's better than yesterday, couldn't pick a winner in a walkover race and my banker was pulled from the race.

  11. Wincanton 14.50
Ruby Russet was placed just 5 days ago so is in peak form, would imagine the finish will be fought out between the selection and Borak

    Beverley 15:40
Racquet is still well handicapped after his win at Wetherby and could follow up here. Mr Strutter and Desert Ace are major dangers.

    Beverley 16:10
Brilliant race with Dawaaleb, Areen Heart, Jacbequick, Proud Archi, Rinaria all in with major chances if they turn up tomorrow. However I'm going for God Willing who is well in, has the visor on for the first time and has last years winning trainer.
    Currently 12/1

    Beverley 17:10
Villa Tora has been tumbling down the weights which is no surprise as she has failed to kick on since her maiden win last June. Now rated 64 she is back on some decent ground however the oddest point to note is that this horse is going from contesting 6 furlong sprints straight to a 1 mile and 4f race. This is a move into the unknown but Mark Johnston is leading trainer here, is on excellent form and the Johnston - Fanning combo have won this race twice in the last four years.
At 16/1 it maybe worth a few bob to see if it's pie in the sky or a brilliant move.

    Chepstow 18:20
    Sir Roderic
Very well handicapped but hasn't won for 670 days but has been paying for a streak of wins during 2016.
He has been dropped into this race which appears a few levels lower than the races he has been contesting.
The conditions suit and the B R Millman Oisin Murphy combo is currently at 21%, 16% for 2017 and 33% for 2016
Over a 12 month period Sir Rod has the best speed ratings by a country mile (and he hasn't even won a race)
Have backed it at 11/2 Bet365. Think Mr Tyrrell will chase him home.

    Chepstow 19:50
    Jalingo 16/1

  13. Merry Banter
Well handicapped but needs to be as she hasnt won for 597 days. Has a 13% strike rate but on good going this increases to 40%. Has form figures of 312 over 5f at Catterick and is drawn in stall 1. 9/10 winners of this race have been drawn 5 or lower and all these winners have been under 10/1. Merry Banter is currently 5/1 (RP forecast is at 10/1 though)
Should run a good race and it's interesting to note that the trainer puts up Catterick's top jockey in Paul Mulrennan instead of the apprentice that rode her last time.
    Bet365 5/1
