Re: Ascot - Sunday 25th July Well, didn't get off to the best of starts with my 'in-depth race studying no money involved adventure' (what a mouthful) after Workforce disappointed earlier today. Not around tomorrow due to work so will post this one up now and hope it runs..... 2.15 Ascot When i am in the bookies with mates having daft bets i love looking at these types of races, espescially when not many of the field have been raced. Here, none of the runners have had a been out yet. I narrowed this down to 3 when looking through the pedigree and how the relatives have done aswell as other factors and those are Go, Apollo D'Negro and Plenty Power. The others were eliminated due to me thinking they will need further. Apollo D'Negro looks like he will have plenty of pace with his half brothers and sisters winning early on at 5 furlongs. However, i was put off by Clive Cox's poor record with 2 year old's this season and in past years and this was enough to make me look elsewhere despite the horse possibly being aimed at a Listed race in early October. Go is put in by Hannon and with the stable in great form has to be respected. I think an extra furlong may be better suited however and if the forecast price is anything to go by i would rather look elsewhere with that small doubt in my mind. Plenty Power has relatives who won early and looks to have plenty of speed too being closely related to a few useful 5 furlong runners. With the yard possibly aiming at a couple of valuable, high grade races later in the season it indicates that he has shown some promise at home so with his price forecast at around 5/1 i am happy to take a chance on him producing the goods. 0.5pt Win Plenty Power at SP
