Musselburgh Saturday 5th June

Recommended Posts

15:40 Musselburgh Cracking contest this with many of the familiar faces turning out against each other once again over the minimum trip. I could give reasons for more than half the field as to why they could take this race with many being in good recent form and others looking well handicapped which is where my dart lands. Green Manalishi was well fancied on his return to turf LTO at Chester, he was well backed into 9/2 for the off but only beat one home although a broken blood vessel was reported. He did have a handy draw that day and acts well at Chester but I am willing to give him a try here at a course where he has only appeared twice at which was way back in 2003 and 2004. Not sure if there is much draw bias here but he does have a low draw which tends to be handier when the going is on the soft side but I'm not rating his chances on a stall number. He is a real sprint specialist having notched up 12 of his 14 wins over this trip from 2003 right the way through until 2009. He has won every single year and has won off a mark as high as 105 along with several wins off 90+. Runs off 94 today which really does look well on his past form and although he is now 9 years of age, I still feel there is another race of this calibre in him and hopefully today is the day. 0.5pts E/W Green Manalishi @ 16/1 (Bet365 - BOG)

Re: Musselburgh Saturday 5th June 2.05 Musselburgh He didnt show a great deal on his comeback but DISTANT SUN should strip fitter for the outing and with useful claimer Barry McHugh booked he looks weighted to go well, effectively only 1 lb higher than when winning over course and distance here last September. Admittedly, he was disappointing last time out but the yard fired in a winner recently at Carlile and he may go one better at a track he clearly acts on. Advised bet: Distant Sun 18/1 Bet 365, 1 pt each-way (3 places, 1/5 odds) 3.40 Musselburgh The big race on the card is this Scottish Sprint Cup. INGLEBY LADY looks a tool and won well at York last time out. She is open to more improvement and I can see her being in the shake up, but HAMISH MCGONAGALL also won a valuable race at York, is more certain to appreciate the drop back in trip, and following the leniency of the handicapper at the start of the season, still looks weighted to follow up even after reassessment. Advised bets: Hamish McGonagall 7/1 Stan James, 1 pt win/0.75 pt place (4 places, 1/4 odds) Ingleby Lady 10/1 Stan James, 0.25 pt win
