15.05 Newbury : totesport.com Lockinge Stakes (Group 1) (Straight) (Class 1) (4YO plus) The big race of the day on Saturday comes in the Lockinge Stakes at Newbury and we see Paco Boy who is going to be a warm order here to turn over and here is some significant eye openers for the race. Four year olds have a dominant feature here and have won eight of the last ten renewals with ten being placed from forty eight entries (8-10-48) and if we put that trend into place this would see the elimination of. Kargali, Paco Boy, Pipedreamer and Stimulation So straight away this is a key factor as on the age trend this has seen the hot favorite for the race Paco Boy become eliminated. Being a five year old there has only been one winner at the age of five in the past ten years with five of the entries being placed from twenty three entries (1-5-23). Next we would have to look who we have left that has won over the 8f trip this afternoon and on this significant trend we would eliminate the likes of.. Lord Shanakill, Ouqba and The Cheka Even though strong trends for this event has to show up entries that have won a Group 1 or 2 contest and having their first run in this event is also favored, this can be very contridictive as Paco Boy has won in Group company but misses out as run in this last year when finishing fourth. Sir Michael Stoute and Henry Cecil have very good records in this and both are represented here with Lord Shanakill and Zacinto and what we have left on the table Sir Michael Stoute's ZACINTO will be the pick of the race. VERDICT Sir Michael Stoute has a prolific record in the Lockinge which has seen the illustrious trainer take this event on six occasions with Henry Cecil winning this three times but not since 1985. Stoute has won this twice in the past ten years with Godolphin winning the race on four occasions from the past thirteen years but are not represented this year. The selection ZACINTO finished off last season when second to Rip Van Winkle in the Group 1 Queen Elizabeth II Stakes at Ascot and was very easily held on that occasion. First win came over the 8f trip on soft ground at Goodwood when taking the scalp of a reasonable field but nothing really stood out from the oppostion so that form might be a little suspect as will be the ground. The 8f trip has just looked a bit to far on a few runs, but has run well on Good to Firm to suggest that he has much in his favor here in age and trainer stats to get really involved.Pipedreamer has now switched yards to Kevin Ryan from the John Gosden yard and could be an interesting adversary if geared up on re-appearance but age is not on his side, but with Paco Boy trading at odds on in this Zacinto does make a lot of appeal from a yard inform on the trading market of around 3.6 on betfair. Lord Shanakill was third at Royal Ascot behind Mastercraftman and Delegator, that pair locked horns with Sea The Stars during the season and were far from discraced, so that one and three quarters length third place in the St James's Palace looks rock solid. Lord Shanakill then won a Group 1 in France next time out. The going, course, and distance should not be a problem. As well as being on an excellent run Henry Cecil also has a profitable record at Newbury. Paco Boy will be hard to beat, however, 15/1 looks a decent each way price about Lord Shanakill.
