Cricket: ICC World Twenty20 2010

So as is the case with cricket these days, one twenty20 tournament ends and another begins soon after. This time it's the world twenty20. It was a cracking tournament held in England last year and this year it's in the Caribbean. A quick reminder of the format. We've got 4 groups of 3. Top 2 go through to the Super 8's where the 8 teams are split into 2 groups of 4. Top 2 head to the semis where it becomes a knockout. There's a slight thing to watch out for in the 1st group stage. The teams are seeded so we know how the 2nd group is laid out. It's not 1st in A, 2nd in B etc etc in one group. Here's the 1st groups: Group A: 1 - Pakistan 2 - Bangladesh 3 - Australia Group B: 1 - Sri Lanka 2 - New Zealand 3 - Zimbabwe Group C: 1 - South Africa 2 - India 3 - Afghanistan Group D: 1 - West Indies 2 - England 3 - Ireland Those groups are seeded in finishing order from the last tournament. The Super Eight groups are as follows: Group E: A1 B2 C1 D2 Group F: A2 B1 C2 D1 So these groups are determined by who qualifies from the 1st set of groups not where they finish. If Australia, Zimbabwe, Afghanistan or Ireland were to qualify then they would take the position of the side who doesn't qualify. So for example if Australia and Bangladesh qualify from Group A Australia would be A1 in the Super Eights and Bangladesh would be A2. Were Australia and Pakistan to qualify Pakistan would go into A1's place and Australia into the A2 spot. If Pakistan and Bangladesh go through, Pakistan would be A1 and Bangladesh A2. Hopefully that makes sense. Usual 20 over rules apply. All the best players in the world are pitching up for this one and it has all the makings od being an absolutely classic tournament. It begins on Friday so let the fun begin :nana.
