Racing and Timeform Radio - receivable WITHOUT a computer ?

Recommended Posts

Hi all While doing IN PLAY UK / IRE Horse racing markets I usually have the Timeform Radio commentary on - via the Radio click button on the Betfair Home screen. I'd like to be able to receive this directly without having to tie up another computer or have it running in the background on the computer I'm using to place my bets on -- when IN PLAY you need to bet QUICKLY and media streaming (even Audio) from the same computer you are relying on to place your bets quickly will slow it down just a tad -- can be the difference between closing a losing LAY bet successfully or losing a wad when the 10/1 outsider you mistakenly LAY'ed romps home. Does anybody have one of those new fangled "Internet Radio's" you see in PC world or Curry's -- and can I get TIMEFORM radio on it. If anybody has one of those devices how do I set it up (need the streaming URL info) to receive the radio. These devices as far as I can see can be connected to your ROUTER and the Internet via WIRED (LAN cable) or wirelessly. Anybody using one ? Cheers jimbo

Jimbo, It would probably be better to look at increasing your broadband speed rather than have 2 devices competing for the bandwidth on your only router. Your PC will package the data it is sending out and send it to the router, if you were to have another device such as the radio then two devices would be sending these packages to the router. I think that this would actually slow your PC connection down slightly. As long as you have a decent spec PC that can handle multiple applications then you should be okay. If you have a good broadband connection and a low spec PC, then it might be cheaper to buy the radio rather than upgrading your PC. Hope this helps. Mal
