best bet of the day - sat 17th april

Recommended Posts

2.35 Newbury A field of 24 contest this valuable heritage handicap but we can probably cross a line through plenty of the runners on the basis of the draw and them not fitting the typical progressive profile that is usually needed to win these big handicaps. There are plenty in with chances but the one that looks a good price is Jane Chapple-Hyam's BIG BAY. Unraced at two, the chestnut colt progressed nicely last season having made his debut in a warm Newmarket contest. He was last seen winning a handicap at Kempton and despite a rise in the weights he looks open to plenty more improvement off his present mark. From a high draw he could get involved if Shane Kelly keeps him towards the front, where he may avoid trouble at the back of the field. 20/1 Bet 365, 1 pt win.

Re: best bet of the day - sat 17th april 3.20 Ayr - Gone To Lunch e/w 12/1 VC bog It's good to be back to the good old days with no thread, but just the single selection in BBOTD ;) I fancy Gone To Lunch to run well tomorrow. Think the 12/1 is pretty much right and normally wouldn't have played him, but I just have a feeling he might come back to form tomorrow. Runs off 8lbs lower mark than last year when 2nd in the race. Barry Geraghty is booked to ride. Will get his favorite good ground and marathon trip and despite slip in form, a reproduction of last year's effort and the Hennessy 5th will be just enough. If he comes back to form, he'll go really close off this mark.
