Lingfield 29th March (AW)

3.10 Lingfield Very few of these get me thinking they have a chance but Poppanan could be an interesting runner if he is fully fit and it right frame of mind. Reasonably lightly raced for a 4yr old having only 6 runs to date and did manage a win in maiden company at bath but did put several good enough efforts together in better company than this off a 3lb higher mark and defenetily found 7f to stamina stretching last time out which resulted in the 3lb reduction so fair chance back over 6f today. 0.25pt e/w poppanan 4.40 Lingfield Weak even for the grade and would be no surprise see Moore getting his season off to a good start on the slightly quirky Charlie Smirke often a strong traveller but often gets going to late so has won once with a well timed ride to win extremely easy on penultimate start off a 7lb lower mark, was better than bare result last time out when no whips were allowed to use and got going far too late again under an inexperienced apprentice and gets to run off same mark today. 1pt win charlie smirke

Re: Lingfield 29th March (AW) 15:10 Lingfield Vintage 1pt win @ SP Whiskey Junction 0.5pt e/w @ SP Vintage has never won off a mark of 75 in the past (came close at 78 but was hampered, ran on to finish second), however this looks quite a weak race and with many potential front-runners he'll get the pace he needs here. His win last time out featured three of today's runners, which inspires more confidence. Akehurst's stable have given 5 winners from 25 runners this year on the a/w, showing a healthy level stakes profit. Ian Mongan has also saddled two winners in his last 5 races. Whiskey Junction could be the pace setter here, and he looks to be running off a very reasonable mark of 75 having recorded wins at a higher one last season. The 2lb pull over Vintage could help here reverse the form of the race last time out, and his front-running tactics might see him through. The Quinn stable are also in very good form this year on the a/w, showing a profit of more than £20 at level stakes. 15:40 Lingfield Lockantanks 0.5pt e/w Not much form to go on in this race with all horses extremely lightly raced. Lockantanks makes most appeal at the prices to me. Always shaped like he wanted a longer trip when competing over 6f, and proved that when comfortably winning a race over this course and distance last time out. He traveled nicely before quickening up the straight to win by 3 and a half lengths. That was a weaker race than this, but only his third so he's bound to come on for the experience. Ryan Moore is in the saddle which is a massive positive. The current 11/1 on Betfair looks pretty decent.
