Re: Kempton Boxing Day Selections 2.30 Kempton Go native is clearly not gonna be allowed to go off at such a big price like last time out he showed his Cheltenham form was no fluke when sprinting home off an extremely slow pace he clearly has a rather special turn of foot and although binocular was clearly not at his best that day and some of these are clearly gonna go out and try and set a decent pace to try and undo go native which may suit binocular BUT go native has proved versatile having won the supremes novice event at Cheltenham last year when again coming off the pace to wind everything in in the finish and can stick some pace, ground is again no concern clearly goes well on all surfaces from good/firm to heavy 1.5pt win go native 2/1 bet365

Re: Kempton Boxing Day Selections I have just taken the 40/1 about Master Medic in the King George. It got down to the final 2 in my trends thread with Imperial commander & although i expect Kauto Star to win a 4th King George, something has to give some day & this year we have 2 very good front runners in Nacarat & Madison du Berlais. This will ensure a very good gallop, but they may just set it up for another horse to come through. Master Medic ran up a 4 timer but was beaten at Ascot last time out by Fix The Rib who again is another exicting young chaser. I think the horse will stay 3m for the 1st time in trying & is lightly raced for an 8yo having only 10 career runs. Master Medic 40/1 Hills 1pt ew

Re: Kempton Boxing Day Selections Back to business :nana 13:20 Kempton I will be siding with top weight Lake Legend in this. The horse is only 5 years of age and is lightly raced having only had 8 runs since his debut in November 2007. He has won 50% of his races (1 bumper, 2 novice hurdle races and a handicap hurdle race) and has finished 2nd in a novices hurdle race as well. Done most his racing over 20-21 furlongs (5/8 races) so today's trip of 21 furlongs will be ideal. 3 of his wins have been in the 5 races over 20-21 furlongs. Today's going will be fine as the horse seems to act on all types of ground having won on Good, Good to Firm and Good to Soft going. Is only raised 5lbs for his win LTO at Taunton where he stayed on well to win by 3 lengths. Hutchinson takes the ride again having won on him twice before. The horse is open to more progress so he can easily overcome the 5lb rise in the weights in a wide open contest. 1pt win Lake Legend @ 11/1 (BlueSquare) Only problem with BlueSquare is I won't get Best Odds Guaranteed but I feel the horse will go off at a shorter price tomorrow.

Re: Kempton Boxing Day Selections 15:40 Kempton Sheriff Hutton has taken well to fences winning his first race over fences on his penultimate start and finishing a good 3rd LTO after a long lay off (1 3/4 lengths behind the winner). 2nd place Nirvana Swing has won since to boost the form. Le Roi Rouge (7th) has also won since. Rated 123 over hurdles with 3 wins and 3 places from 15 runs. Will be more suited to the slight drop back in trip today having won over the distance before. Should be open to more progress in this sphere and should strip fitter for this race after his last run from an absence of 5-6 months. Jockey has a 14% record at the track and has won on the horse over hurdles. He takes over from Costello in the saddle today. 0.5pt win @ 10/1 (Bluesquare)

Re: Kempton Boxing Day Selections 12.45 COOTEHILL E/W~ NTD horse is more experienced than most of these and if the 8 run has e/w claims at around 20's . Will be interesting to see how Farleigh House runs as our syndicate horse ran 2nd to it lto. 1.20 ARCTIC WINGS E/W~The btm weight in this and is a horse i follow. Has been a shade disappointing so for this year but i think is well capable of picking up a couple of these races this season and at around 20's and may get bigger is worth a e/w punt imo. I will also have a place bet on ATTORNEY GENERAL PLACE who is probably best at Cheltenham and is getting on but around 12 on BF and with 4 place being paid is worth the risk. 1.55 TAZBAR WIN~The stable think a lot of this horse and will have to step up on last win but may just turn out to be very good and happy to take him at around 5's instead of the ex French now Henderson trained hot pot. 2.30 KINGS REVENGE E/W~200/1 no hoper but i'm having a measly quid e/w on the ex trained king horse. 3.05 RACING DEMON E/W~Trainer has done well in this race in the past and i think while this 100/1 shot will probably not win i do think it has a fair place chance and at 1/4 the odds 25/1 is generous in my world. 3.40 COCKATOO E/W~ A very open race but this 25/1 shot has e/w claims in this now with the blinkers back on. Also a place bet at around on BF on the Hobbs horse MONT PRESENT around 15 on BF has showed nowt on two runs thus for this term but is capable of much better. NTD horse would have been of interest if price had a been a lot bigger but 8/1 is to tight for horse that hasn't run for some time.

Re: Kempton Boxing Day Selections 3.40 I only look at front runners/prominent horses round this track as its very difficult to make up enough ground from that last turn, so you really need to be in the 1st 4 at that point 4 Rodrigo Gonzales 6 Sheriff Hutton 11 Dovers hill 12 Cockatoo These are the 4 i think can win in a fairly open event to close the card. The 1st named has a record here of 1-1-2 & won on this card last year. Sheriff Hutton stays further than this & will be there at the end no problem. It wouldnt want it too soft though. Dovers hill has a record here of 1-3 however again may prefer further on faster ground. I am not sure Cockatoo will appreciate the longer trip again & may be wanting at the end. So the 2 for me are Rodrigo Gonzales & Sheriff Hutton.

Re: Kempton Boxing Day Selections 235 Kempton Go Native 1.87 for a place I backed Go Native for a win at 3.45 and at 1.87 for a place. OK there are only 2 places but with 3 of the runners at 200/1, 66/1 and 28/1 the market revolves around 3-4 horses. Go Native has been out of the first 2 in 1 of his last 12 races and so 1.87 looks like good value to me!

Re: Kempton Boxing Day Selections 3:05 Kempton: Nacarat 2pts win 1pt place 20/1 Boylesports Nacarat left a lasting impression when winning the Racing Post Chase here in February. He could take some catching if he gets in to a rythem early and goes off in front. Trainer Tom George is in good form with four winners from his last ten runners. This race has been the plan all season and the groung should be no problem either. There are negatives, Nacarat could be taken on for the lead and may set the race up for a closer. Nacarat has a lot to find with Kauto Star however that was a hard race at Haydock for Kauto and even for a true great, its hard to keep winning. Imperial Commander has to prove he is as good going right handed. Madison Du Berlais is another contender but a slight concern is the form of the Pipe stable. All in all Nacarat looks a decent bet at the price.

Re: Kempton Boxing Day Selections Kempton 2.30 Kings Revenge looks totally outclassed and the odds reflect that. Straw Bear has seen better days and has shown nothing recently to suggest it could win this race. Cape Tribulation would probably prefer further, it was 2nd to Zaynar over 21f last time out and has won over 21f and 25f, this 2m should be too sharp. Pepe Simo has progressed from class 4 to class 3 to listed level and won really easily last time out. Up from 129 to a 140 rating but might be at least 10lb better than that. Even if it was around a 150 horse it would still be rated 14lb and 19lb inferior to Go Native and Binocular. It has won on soft and gd-sft and over 2m and is from the Nicholls stable so deserves respect. Starluck was 1st and 2nd in its last 2 races but they were class 2, it's form at Grade 1 falls short, beaten 26l by Walkon and 7l by Zaynar. May prefer better ground and has been well backed but I can't see why. That leaves Binocular and Go Native, these two opposed at Newcastle in a crawl and sprint race and Go Native showed a smart turn of foot to leave its rivals flat footed. It's hard to assess that form with both Binocular and Solwhit seemingly underperforming but it is very consistent, rarely out of the first two and when it has been well beaten it was by Hurricane Fly on both occasions, we still don't really know how good that horse is due to injury. Many will say Binocular has the better overall form but I'm not so sure, it was 2nd in a Supreme Novices that included some very good horses and has beaten Celestial Halo by 7l and 4 1/2 lengths at Aintree and Ascot but I'm not sure those races were the strongest. The way it faded tamely last time out concerned me and the trainer and jockey don't seem to have a genuine reason why it performed so badly despite the lack of pace in the race. I can see one of the front 2 in the betting underperforming, possibly Binocular and I'd rather take Pepe Simo to place than Starluck with Go Native the more likely winner. Both the Henderson and Meade stables are in form so no excuses after the race. Meade has won this race 3 times in last 10 years while Henderson has won it twice but only 4 winners from the last 10 years went off as favourite, Binocular currently holds that position. My prediction: 1st Go Native 2nd Pepe Simo

Re: Kempton Boxing Day Selections 12:45 Kempton: King Olav 1pt e/w 16/1 Stan James King Olav ran a good race behind Inventor at Ascot last time out, and now taking in to account claimer's allowance meets that rival on 18lbs better terms (if my maths is right!). With Bellvano odds on, King Olav with a little extra hurdling experience and being a front / handy runner looks worth an each way interest. Wayne Hutchinson takes over in the plate and has a good record for the trainer.

Re: Kempton Boxing Day Selections Kempton 3.05 It's hard to see past Kauto Star making history and making it 4 King George's in a row and while the professional punters may be piling in at odds of around 8/13 the working class man is likely to be looking for an alternative. There is the option of an ew bet but if you really fancy Kauto to win it seems pointless as you'll just be throwing away the win part of your bet. The without fav market may be the best way to go. The first ones I'd dispose of are Sandymac, Racing Demon, Ollie Magern and Tartak. Our Vic was pulled up in this race in 2008 and 2nd in 2007 but beaten 11 lengths by Kauto Star, not exactly getting any younger or progressive and hard to see it involved in the finish. Master Medic has been running in handicaps and over shorter but stayed on over 20f and 21f, it is rated 156 (same as Barbers Shop) and could be one to spring a surprise at a bigger price if handling the step up in trip and class. I don't really rate Barbers Shop at Grade 1 level, always seems to lack the class to get really competitive at this level and was well beaten here in a novice chase over 3m by Joe Lively. Nacarat is a course and distance winner but only at Grade 3 level. It was beaten in Grade 1 and Grade 2 company next time out and then pulled up last time out over 25f at Newbury in a hurdles race. Likely to go off in front and set the race up for the chasing pack. Albertas Run is hit and miss and was 2nd but well beaten in this race last year. Well beaten by Deep Purple last time out and hard to see it reversing form with that or with Kauto from last year. Seemed to go downhill after its RSA win at Cheltenham and can't be too confident today. Deep Purple was very consistent over hurdles and has followed that with consistency over fences, 6 wins, 2 seconds and PU from last 9 races. Improving, progressive and has won over 1f further at Wetherby so should get the trip even though this 3m is likely to be run much faster than previous races it has run in. Rated 166, only 3lb behind Madison Du Berlais but 20lb inferior to Kauto Star. Has to improve but certainly has done so far and can improve again today, going the right way and a danger to the first few in the betting. Madison Du Berlais may be overrated due to beating Denman when it was not at its best, it has only won at Grade 3 and Grade 2 level, unplaced in Grade 1's but gets the 3m trip. Beaten 43l by Kauto Star in the Gold Cup and beaten 24l by Kauto Star at Haydock. Supposedly needed that first run and may be looking at a place, seems better suited to this type of track. Imperial Commander has become a bit of a Cheltenham specialist and shows its best form there. Beaten 72l in this race last year but has improved since then and only just beaten in a photo last time out by Kauto Star. Suggestions that it goes better left handed but most of its races have been left handed so hard to tell really. Will need a career best to reverse placings and a very interesting runner in this race after the last ding dong battle to the line with Kauto Star. That leaves just Kauto Star, it has won this race 3 times and seems at its best around here, winning the last 3 King George's by 8l, 11l and 8l. It seems to power away from its rivals round here, jumping fluently and travelling at speed, not losing ground at any fences. It will be good for racing if Kauto can make it 4 in a row but my bets will be on other horses: W/O the fav market Deep Purple 6-1 Bet365 Master Medic 16-1 Stan James

Re: Kempton Boxing Day Selections 3.05 King George - w/o Kauto Star Deep Purple - progressive chaser in rude health, previous course winner, in stronger form than imperial commander, barbers shop and madison du berlais as i rank as the other three rivals. Ic may be better lh, barbers shop looks value but still not sure on his best trip, madison is unlikely to get his own way out in front again. I think deep purple should be a little bit shorter than the 6s taken earlier this week, he is still that this morning thoifh

Re: Kempton Boxing Day Selections Great looking meeting today to sniff out some potential value each ways! 1.20 - De Soto @21.00 EW William Hill This horse likes to mix hurdling and chasing and has been known to have spins on the flat - quite a versatile reliable honest horse! I like the fact it has won here before on it's only try here over 2 miles in a hurdle class 2 beating Blythe Knight in 06'. I also like the fact that today's pilot Sam Thomas has only ever ridden this horse once before when he won on it over 2m 1f at Taunton giving Oceanos Des Obeaux a 6 lengths beating in a class 3 hurdle. In a race where we can expect 4 places and I'm not overly convinced by those at the top of the market, I would rather go with a more reliable convincing profile for a horse and this one stands out for me as good each way material! 2.30 - Go Native @3.25 Win Wiliam Hill Noel Meade the trainer of Go Native has a great looking 2 from 3 (67%) strike rate for his hurdlers here at Kempton and with doubts over Binoculars wellbeing I feel Go Native is a great price! Go Native's record on these shores reads 2 from 2 and it's last run in the Fighting Fifth at Newcastle oozed class. 3.05 - Madison De Berlais @11.00 EW William Hill I can't get away from the fact that I'll be getting at least 2/1 for each way on this horse! If Kauto Star is off par or makes a mstake which has happened before in the past! then I think the genuine Madison De Berlais is the horse to capitalise. It's record at this course reads 1 from 1 in that amazing performance in Feb of this year spanking Denman by 23 lengths with conditions and distance identical to that day! Forget it's opening run of this season as it always requires a run to get it race fit and David Pipe will have this horse conditioned to perfection for the race today. 3.40 - Carlitos @9.00 EW BlueSQ This horse has had it's fair share of problems and it reappears here after 989 days. However if there is a trainer who you can trust to have it spot on for it's reappearance then Nigel Twiston-Davies is your man! This horse has some really decent form to it's name in a very short career so far and it looks like a cut above this field if it is ready to go today? :ok

Re: Kempton Boxing Day Selections For me today it has to be all about 1 horse, a horse i have followed from day 1, Paddy Brennan has always said its the best horse hes sat on and ive won big in the past with him, last time out there was nothing in it with him and Kauto star and ive grabbed the 13/2, Kauto star will still be hard to beat as hes made this track and race his own, however in life i always prefer the underdog and am staying 100% loyal to ''IMPERIAL COMMANDER'' If he gets beat then i hope the horse to beat him is Kauto star, the roof will come off the stand with the roar and Ruby and Kauto go into the history books, may the best horse win. Best of luck to one and all. :hope

Re: Kempton Boxing Day Selections Nothing very much substantial in my selections, just having a few quid down for a little bit of interest. 1:55 No idea how good Long Run will be, I fear all the hype will be for nothing and if it does win, it won't be by a very big margin. Not very much form to go on, Tazbar is too inconsistent for my liking and occasionially never seems up for it, as shown when it ran in a hopeless flat maiden and put in zero effort. I aren't very confident with a bet on Ogee but at 8/1, it's an EW price. This horse won it's last 2 novice chases, albeit poor ones very easily. Has to step up to 3m and a massive step up in race quality but this horse looks like it enjoys the game and will run it's race. Whether that's good enough seems debateable but I'm hoping for a commendable effort, which is what I'll expect I will get. 0.25pt EW 8/1 (Other write ups will come shortly

Re: Kempton Boxing Day Selections IMPERIAL COMMANDER 3.05 Kempton. 1 point win. Kauto Star the obvious one to beat, but I think we can run our own race and force him to make a few mistakes. We stay well enough and the ground's fine and so just hope that he's fully wound up, which he should be. Value lies with us at the prices.

Re: Kempton Boxing Day Selections BARBERS SHOP 3.05 Kempton. 1 point win. Not a form choice, but I just get the feeling that he will run amassive race today and stay on best to nick it. Massie price for a horse that can have things go his way today and has a touch of class. The price certainly warrants the bet as I think we will see a top class Barbers' Shop today.

Re: Kempton Boxing Day Selections I've been out of the horse racing game for some time but looking at some form i'd take a chance on Deep Purple in the 3:05 at odds of 14/1. Racing is a highly chaotic form of probability so you never know what might happen. There's no such thing as a certainty. :hope Deep Purple 3.05 Kempton. 1 point win.
