Sha Tin (Hong Kong) - Sun 13th Dec

6.40 Sha Tin Borderlescott is my favourite racehorse of all time and at 25/1 a small wager out of sentiment has been placed. However, heart cannot rule head, and if looking at this race with a proper head on, California Flag is the one I would nominate. Brian Koriner's five year old gelding produced a breathtaking performance to land the £375k Breeder's Cup Turf Sprint at Santa Anita when last seen and arrives in Hong Kong right on top of his game. He has had a lightly raced campaign this season racing only three times in the last twelve months and it may be worth chancing that this horse, who is the highest rated turf sprinter in the States, has more to offer tomorrow morning as he still seems to be progressing with each run. 9/1 William Hill, 0.5 pt EW (3 places, 1/5 odds).

Re: Sha Tin (Hong Kong) - Sun 13th Dec 7.50 Sha Tin Sweet Hearth gets a handy weight allowarance here and looks a big price considering her run in the Prix de La Foret at Longchamp when last seen. Goldikova was expected to wipe the floor with the opposition that day but looked one paced once taking over from 80/1 rag Welsh Emperor that had gone off far too fast, and finished third. Sweet Hearth had been racing in a similar position herself yet finished only a short head off stablemate Varenar in second to mark significant improvement herself. It was a performance that came as no surprise to trainer Alain De Royer-Dupre who said she has got better with every race since joining his stable and could become a great filly. She's got a handy draw up with the pace and could be worth a sneaky bet at 25/1 even if there are slight doubts she may be better over seven furlongs. Tote, 0.5 pt EW (3 places, 1/5 odds).
