Laying the Heaviest in a handicap?

Recommended Posts

Hi all, I have an interesting idea. It is my understanding that a handicapper will add weight to a horse as they believe it has an unfair advantage and this should "even the score" a little. Well I did a little random back testing, just picking random days and it looks like this could be something. If someone would be able to back-test this. There are 2 possibilities: System 1 1. Lay the heaviest horse in a handicap race UNLESS it is the fav. 2. Accept any odds. 3. If there are joint heaviest then do not bet on that race. System 2 Same as above but only accept odds of less than 10 or possibly 5 (would like a little input here if the system seems to work). This should stop any large wins wiping out our bank. Staking plan would be a percentage of the bank. The percentage would have to be worked out from back testing. I would like to hear your ideas and if anyone has the data to check it out? :notworthy Thanks. Adam

Re: Laying the Heaviest in a handicap? For example today so far would have produced these results: 5 Selections. 5 Wins. 0 Losers. 2.00 Lingfield - 12/1 2.30 Lingfield - 8/1 3.30 Lingfield - 40/1 2.10 Market R - 17/2 2.40 Market R - 16/1 (the prices are taken from the racing post, so im assuming that betfair prices would be a little better)
