Re: Best bet of the day 12th Nov Mexican Bob is an interesting runner in the 15.10 at Taunton tomorrow. Formerly with Alan King, he hasn’t been seen over hurdles since April 2008 but won 3 times in that season, most notably over this course and distance. Mexican Bob showed that he retains plenty of ability when winning on the Flat at Beverley for his current trainer Charlie Longsdon in August. The current going conditions at Taunton ride as good. A recent viewing of the weather forecast suggests that there will be rain in the area tonight. If it materialises then this will suit Mexican Bob even better as there has been a suggestion in the past that good ground may be a little quick for him. I think a case can be made to view him as very well treated, with the potential to progress further. So, the decision to make is whether he can reproduce his previous fairly useful hurdle form after such a long absence in this sphere. With the stable going well, I think Mexican Bob is worth chancing at reasonable odds. I had priced him up at a minimum of 8-1 for an interest and the current 10-1 on offer with Bet365 tonight looks too big to me.
