Trendsman Posted October 23, 2009 Author Posted October 23, 2009 Re: Trendsmans 10 To Follow (National Hunt) TITO BUSTILLO Sire : Kahyasi - Dam : Litani Queen Trainer : Paul Nicholls (Races) (Flat) : 11 (2 Wins) - (NH) : 1 (1 Win) Has come from france and once trained by C Laffron-Palais, was last seen winning for the french trainer at Longchamp over 12f back in April before coming across the water to join the illustrious Paul Nicholls yard. Made an exceptional hurdles debut when winning at Chepstow comfortably under Ruby Walsh over 2m, and looked to have plenty in the locker that day. a nice cruising speed and is one to consider over the winter months on good to softish ground. POQUELIN Sire : Lahint - Dam : Babolna Trainer : Paul Nicholls (Races) (Flat) : 10 (1 Win -(NH) : 17 (6 Wins) Owned by the Stewart Family and made his first appearance in the UK for Paul Nicholls back in 2006 and contended his ability over hurdles when running sixth to Katchit in the Triumph Hurdle in 2007. Since diverting to chasing he has shown his true potential and has notched up three wins from six starts. He won from a six month lay off in October when beating Gaelic Flight when giving the runner up over a stone in the weights and looks another one that has improved with age. TATANIANO Sire : Sassanian - Dam : Rosa Carola Trainer : Paul Nicholls (Races) (NH) : 7 (5 Wins) Another Paul Nicholls individual gets a mention here. Again bred out of france and showed great potential when winning on his maiden run in france when trained by Gerard Mangan over 2m 4f. Moved to the Nicholls yard in April of 2008 and made a pleasing debut when winning at Chepstow which seems to be an obvious winning track for the new yard sticks. After a christmas break he came out and won again by ten lengths at Exeter another haunting ground for the Nicholls yard. Attempted a step up to Grade company when the ground went against him at Cheltenham hence his poor showing when finishing fourth a long way behind the field. Has bounced back to rewcord two victories from a lay off, winning a Novices hurdle race at Cheltenham by twenty one lengths before being tried chasing and proved to adapt well when winning on his chase debut beating Award Winner by a staggering thirty two lengths. He seems to be very comfortable over anything trip from 2m to 2m 4f and is one to watch from a yard that have some interesting new comers this year. WHISPERING HILLS Sire : Tiger Hill - Dam : Wells Whisper Trainer : Dessie Hughes (Race) (NHF) : 4 (1 Win) Dessie Hughes is renowned for training an exceptional National Hunt flat runner and this looks a useful type to follow in the forth coming months leading up to Cheltenham in March. The sire was a Prolific Group winner in germany notching up ten wins from seventeen career starts and included wins in the Group 2 Grosser Muller, Group 1 Grosser Preis (twice) , Group 2 Gerling-Preis, Group 1 Grosser Dallmayr and ran a good fifth to Montjeu in the Arc Prix D'Triomphe. The Dam was trained by Geoff Wragg and finished her career after just six starts with out winning a race but contested some good handicaps. Whispering Hills has a lot of potential from the Sire's side and managed to get his first win on the NH Flat circuit when beating St Devote at Fairyhouse back in april, the runner up has won this year as has seven others from that race. looks better suited by cut in the ground and could be one to watch this year. BLACKSTAIRMOUNTAIN Sire : Imperial Ballet - Dam : Sixhills Trainer : Willie Mullins (Races) (NHF) : 5 (2 Wins):(NH) : 2 (1 Win) Showed some potential when notching up wins at Thurles and Tipperary on the National Hunt Flat circuit before going on to run on the flat circuit and won his maiden at Galway over 12f. The sire ran seven times in his career winning four of his races at Handicap level and finish off his career as a four year old when winning the Royal Hunt Cup at Ascot when trained by Henry Cecil. The Dam Sixhills ran seven times and won once when trained by James Fanshawe and had a flat rating of 77. Overall he looks like he could be one to follow again in bumpers on good to soft ground and if he has trained on again will be picking up races around. MIKAEL D'HAGUENET Sire : Liverco - Dam : Fleur D'Haguenet Trainer : Willie Mullins (Races) (Hurdles) : 9 (6 Wins):(Chases) : 1 Really needs no introduction this one, is a prolific winner over hurdles and since leaving the B Thelier yard in france he is unbeaten for the new surroundings in Ireland. It all started when winning his maiden at Navan when winning easily by fouir and a half lengths and then there was a lot of confidence with the yards new comer that they put him straight in to Grade 1 company when winning at Navan again. Went on to notch up two more Grade 2 contests at Naas and Punchestown before going on to cheltenham to win the Grade 1 Ballymore Novice's hurdle when beating Karabak by just under two lengths, he had his final race of the campaign when winning the Grade 1 Champion Novice Hurdle at Punchestown when beating Cousin Vinny by four lengths. This horse is super effective on ground that is soft to heavy and regards an official rating of 157 on the circuit and could return again to the festival in march to stamp his authority on another Garde 1 contest. RARE BOB Sire : Bob Back - Dam : Cut Ahead Trainer : Dessie Hughes (Race) (NHF) : 2 (Hurdles) : 6 (Chase) : 10 (3 Wins) Never managed to win over hurdles despite contending Grade company and did not record his first win until this year back in January when winning a beginner's chase at Punchestown over 2m 4f when beating Oscar Time by eight lengths. Finished fourth behind cheltenham winners Cooldine and Forpadytheplasterer at Leopardstown in the Grade 1 Moriarty Chase and finished off the season taking a novice chase at Navan before winning the Grade 1 Champion Novice chsae at Punchestown beating Gone to Lunch and Cooldine. Now a seven year old, and i can see this one contending Grade company again this year and running big races for the yard. GO NATIVE Sire : Double Eclipse - Dam : Native Idea Trainer : Noel Meade (Races) : (NHF) : 3 (1 Win) (Hurdles) : 8 (4 Wins) Since diverting to hurdles has shown fantastic improvement and was unlucky to bump into Hurricane Fly in the Paddy Power Champion Novice hurdle at Leopardstown just after christmas. two month lay off and came back to win the Grade 2 Johnstown Novice hurdle at Naas before going on to the festival in march to win the Grade 1 Supreme Novices hurdle beating Medermit. Finished off this year when winning the Grade 2 Tipperary hurdle beating a small field but did it comfortably this October. Has a lot of ability and one to follow the next few months with many big meetings coming up. HURRICANE FLY Sire : Montjeu - Dam : Scandisk Trainer : Willie Mullins (Races) (Flat) : 10 (2 Wins) : (Hurdles) : 6 (5 Wins) For me the one to follow closely this year. Since joining the team of Willie Mullins he has grown immensley to record three Grade 1 wins. He beat the likes of Donnas Palm last year who has won a Listed race recently and has also beaten the impressive Go Native and ended the season when beating Kempes in the Grade 1 Evening Herald Champion Novice Hurdle at Punchestown back in april. He is going to be the won to beat this year on merit, and no doubt will return to the festival with all guns firing to take the champion hurdle. BINOCULAR Sire : Enrique - Dam : Bleu Ciel Et Blanc Trainer : Nicky Henderson (Races) : (Flat) : 7 (2 Wins) : (Hurdles) : 7 (5 Wins) Was a two time winner in france when trained by Elle Lellouche before making his move across the water to the Nicky Henderson yard. He won on debut for his new yard and went on to record a second win when winning the Grade 2 Racing Post Adonis Juvenile Novices Hurdle at Kempton. Ran a fantastic race to finish second to Captain Cee Bee in the Grade 1 Supreme Novices and had Snap Tie back in third that day and he has come on to win at cheltenham recently. He went on to win the Grade 1 John Smith's anniversary novices when beating Celestial Halo by seven lengths. went on further to take the scalp of Celestial Halo again at Ascot in the Boylesports International, before rounding up his busy campaign when finishing third in the Champion Hurdle to Punjabi in probably one of the closest finishes to a race of that nature with only half a length seperating them. For me he still has a lot potential and is only five years old and feels he has been around for a long time. If fully fit he is another one of my top ten to follow this year. Quote
