Re: BOSS - Betfair Online Side Series Times for these sats appear to be quoted in GMT in the email above so they are actually an hour later. Seem to be low turnout, some of the level 1's not meeting their guarantee. These times from the site tally with the lobby times. I'm amending the diary for the 11th Oct events. :ok

Re: BOSS - Betfair Online Side Series I played a $10 2/4 satellite for the main event on Monday and qualified for a $100 3/4 satellite, where I came 5th (3 seats :sad). I played another $10 2/4 satellite today and qualified for another $100 3/4 satellite, and f_14qjpp6951gm_548031b.jpg :nana Nerve wracking. On the bubble I went all-in with 44 from the SB and got called by the other short stack in the BB, who had A7o. Flop was 998. So far, so good. Turn was an 8. :loon Noooooooooooooooooooo! Counterfeited! :cry River was another 8. :D

Re: BOSS - Betfair Online Side Series

Nice one slap :clap :clap :clap Was it really 2 minute levels with a 500 starting stack? :loon
No. (Does that not happen for other people on Betfair? When you have a tournament lobby open, the description of the structure will keep changing to a completely different tournament, presumably as the list of tournaments in the main lobby changes? Very confusing.)

Re: BOSS - Betfair Online Side Series Just found the following on the Betfair website....

TIP: Don't miss the huge value $100k Shuttle Satellites each guaranteeing 10 x $1,010 seats to the BOSS Main Event! These are taking place on Friday 9th at 21:00 (UK), Saturday 10th at 21:00 (UK) and Sunday 11th at 16:00(UK).
Obviously missed last nights but out of interest of seeing how much value added this might have I had a look in the lobby and the game is still there. :ok f_ebjexxp2jm_6007e6b.jpg Entry is $55, so 87 entry's x $55 = $4,785 so almost 5 seats added based on last night. Very much a gamble however with 1.5k stack and 2 min levels but thought this may interest a few who didn't know. :ok
Guess this means chapman won't be able to play. :tongue2
:rollin Not sure I can play on Sunday yet, if I'm available think I will deffo atleast buy in to the 10kNLH and may have a crack at the Sunday sat into the ME. :hope

Re: BOSS - Betfair Online Side Series I was out in 32nd (18 paid). It was by far the biggest buy-in MTT I've ever played, and although it was, of course, extremely disappointing to crash and burn so close to the money, and after having been going so well, I felt (after I'd stopped banging my head against the wall) quite pleased with the way I played. In particular, I'm proud that at the end, even with a couple of thousand dollars on offer for 10th-18th, I didn't play scared (although maybe I wish I had! :\). Anyway, here are my three key hands (well, I guess there were a couple of other key hands where I was all-in pre-flop and won, but they weren't very interesting, and anyway, they don't fit into the theme). This is entitled: A TALE OF POCKET KINGS. Hand 1 This was about three-quarters of an hour in, and I folded pocket kings preflop. :loon I can't remember EVER folding pocket kings preflop, but I was convinced, and still am, that I was right to here. You can all tell me I was a nutcase. Some background: Up to this point, my image was very tight; a lot tighter than I usually am, just because I'd hardly got any playable hands. Also, phounder had been sat out for the first 20 minutes or so, but since then, he seemed pretty tight as well. Therese09 had been aggressive, but seemed solid, and hadn't previously done anything maniacal.

It seemed to me that from Therese09's point of view, a tight player had raised from early-mid position, another tight player had reraised from mid-late position. She must have expected at least one of us to have a premium hand, and the massive all-in overbet seemed to make no sense at all unless she was hoping that one of us would call with a premium hand. Maybe I'm wrong, but I'd put money on her having aces. :$ Hand 2 Not much to say about the next one, except that it was terrifying!

Hand 3 And finally the hand that pretty much knocked me out. Any comments? I was a bit suspicious of the very small preflop raise, but I'm not sure I can get away from this huge draw on the flop. Even if he had pocket aces, I'd have only been about a 46% underdog on the flop.

Re: BOSS - Betfair Online Side Series Hand 1 - easy to have a guess once you see that phounder folds after you, but I'd have been calling here, putting Therese on AK or a smaller pair than KK, rather than Aces - would she not have made a smaller raise with AA, rather than run the risk of you both folding?

Re: BOSS - Betfair Online Side Series Easy to say when I know the outcome, I know - but I wouldn't have crai there. I'd have called the 3k flop bet and seen a turn. If I'd missed the turn I'd be done with the hand. You'd still have been 4th in chips at your table so still in good shape, and the potential loss of any chance of you winning the tournament (crai) outweighs the benefit of nearly doubling up.

Hand 1 - easy to have a guess once phounder folds' date=' but I'd have been calling here, putting Therese on AK or a smaller pair than KK, rather than Aces - would she not have made a smaller raise with AA, rather than run the risk of you both folding?[/quote'] Well, I didn't see why she'd have shoved (for nearly 10 times the pot!) with anything less than aces (or possibly kings) when it must have seemed reasonably likely to her that one of us had aces or kings, and might well call. I went into the timebank, of course, and so did phounder, so I imagine he had something pretty big as well. If she did have aces, she seems to have got us both to seriously consider calling! I thought she put us both on big hands and was gambling that at least one of us would not be up to folding a big hand. Also, of course, even if I was wrong, phounder can still have aces.

Easy to say when I know the outcome' date=' I know - but I wouldn't have crai there. I'd have called the 3k flop bet and seen a turn. If I'd missed the turn I'd be done with the hand.[/quote'] Maybe. But if I do that, I'm giving up my fold equity, and (if he follows through with a bet on the turn and I fold), I'm giving up my chance of hitting the river. I think I'm favourite against a lot of hands he could have, but only if I get to see both turn and river.

I think your tournament equity is more valuable to you here than your fold equity, with it being a freezeout tournament. I can understand the argument FOR the move on the flop, I just feel that that crai move is more suited to a cash game, or a rebuy period of a tournament.
