SteveO
The GUKPT is in Cardiff this weekend has had it's lowest ever turnout of Just 120 players with a top prize of only just over £38K. Could this be the begining of the end of the GUKPT events? I'm gonna pop down tomorrow to watch the final anyway.

BAM
Re: GUKPT lowest ever turnout! I think the turnout as been generally lower this year partly because the way Bluesq have been running their sats they have made it harder to qualify and most of the fields come from online qualifiers. Cardiff was taken off the schedule last year because it cannot attract the numbers. I had a seat but refused to use it for Cardiff as it is not a good poker room the room is too small, the tables wobble, the chairs are too low down and the dealers are not the best and if you cannot get the basics right in a £1000 game people will not come. There is already a season 4 planned with new venues like Sheffield and Dundee being mentioned then we have the old faithfuls of Vic, Walsall and Blackpool that always get the numbers but I think Cardiff and Newcastle should be dropped. Anyway Dewi ftw!!! still going strong and it's about time he took a big one, his game has improved no end since he stopped drinking.
SteveO
Re: GUKPT lowest ever turnout! I agree with you about cardiff Casino Bri it is a shambles and the poker room manager is a joke of a guy. Aspers Swansea is in a different league to the Grosevenor in cardiff, they should take a leaf out of their book. ( I fcuking hate cliche's lol.) morlspin
Re: GUKPT lowest ever turnout! With regards to Newcastle I think the timing of this leg is always the problem. Either right before the WSOP or just after, with a lot of semi pro players prefering to use their money for vegas and resting just after. I honestly beleive if the date for this leg was moved to say March or September, we would see a different scenario and a packed out casino
swampster
Re: GUKPT lowest ever turnout! decent faces though, Karl Mahrenholz, Jon 'WSOP final table' Kalmar, Andreas Hoivold all FT, Channing also turning up over the weekend.

Out of interest, what do you think is the problem with the satellite structure? We're always happy to revise these things based on feedback from players. I think the timing of the event probably had an effect on the numbers too - the EPT and WSOPE in London are sure to have a few people tightening their belts and saving up for those. BAM
Re: GUKPT lowest ever turnout! Out of interest, what do you think is the problem with the satellite structure? We're always happy to revise these things based on feedback from players. Hi Jamie, one of the big things you did this year was change the Friday night $100rb to a $50rb. The Friday night game was the only one I could regulary play due to work and this only generated 1 seat so the numbers dropped. Correct me if I'm wrong but the Friday night game use to always have 2/3 guaranteed seats now it is 1. I'm pretty sure there was never an overlay but the numbers uses to get attracted by the GP. I use to play the Friday night game regular with 60 runners generating 4 seats now it gets 1 seat and a lot fewer runners. I agree with dropping the expenses as most people are prepared to incurr that cost anyway (and choose local games), so I think a $100rb for a $1750 seat with 2 seats guaranteed would be nice. Even though I enjoy rebuys when I speak to others they will not play them so why not have a step $1.50 > $15 > $150 all freezouts. The $270 tourney on a Sunday is great but out of the average players BR and the $20 rb starts too late and only usually generates 1 seat. Why not try a $25 freezout with an earlier start time and a couple of guaranteed seats or again make the tourney a $1750 prize and have a $175 buy in. The other slight problem I have with the rebuys (especially the $100) is that the Bluesq pro's tend to enter a lot of them. Now I don't mind playing against the best in the world but when that person has deep pockets and also the knowledge that he already has a seat payed for by Bluesq then he has a definate edge (fortunately I bubbled Kimber for my seat recently ;)) and I don't mind these players for making hay while the sun shines (I would do the same) but it does put others off. Well done at APAT BTW now where is the PL GUKPT league upto?

reevio
Re: GUKPT lowest ever turnout! Never got a reply from Blue Square.....thats where the PL GUKPT League is at It was passed on to our affiliates team. They've been going through a few changes recently with new team members etc. which probably explains the lack of response. I'll give them a nudge.
