BBOTD - Sun 30th Aug

Recommended Posts

2.45 Goodwood Nashmiah was a hopeful entry in the 1,00 Guineas for Clive Brittain and was soundly beaten back in ninth. She has also had a run in the Nassau (when finishing tenth) and although those Group 1 races have proven beyond her, she is racing more on her level in listed company here. She is a winner in this grade, having won at York in May and was third at Sandown last time out in a listed race behind the smart Strawberrydaiquiri from the Sir Michael Stoute yard. She hit traffic trouble at Chester in July too, and so her placings may be a little better than they appeal on paper at first glance. Win

Re: BBOTD - Sun 30th Aug Curragh 3.45 Moyglare Stud Stakes Gp1 7f Heavy The odds of the favourite Lillie Langtry suggest this is a one horse race and it probably should win this Gp1 race, having already won at Gp3 and Gp2 level but to write off other improving horses would be dangerous and I feel the short price fav might have created value in 2 other selections. Gile Na Greine won 1st time out on soft/heavy for the Bolger/Manning partnership and that was on this track over this trip. It's hard to tell if that race was any good as it was only 14 days ago and many of those rivals have not raced since. It is out of Galileo, is sure to improve and Bolger stated they would head for this race next so clearly rates it if he is entering it into a Gp1 race on its 2nd run. He won this race in 2007 with Saoirse Abu. Termagant is the other at a price to interest me, it won over this trip on its debut but on good ground. It beat Cabaret from the O' Brien yard that day and that horse has won twice since, one of them a Gp 3 race by 4 1/2 lengths. It is another that looks to be going the right way and should improve and is entered in Gp1 company on its 2nd run. The trainer won this race in 2006 with Miss Beatrix. Long Lashes has won both its races so far, it beat Sent From Heaven which was 3rd and that has won a Gp3 race since. It beat Elusive Galaxy on soft ground by 2 1/2 lengths on its debut and that horse has finished 2 lengths behind Lillie Langtry in a Gp2 race. This horse is around 5-2 though, fav is Evens and the 2 I fancy at bigger prices are 6-1 and 12-1. Should be an interesting race but I'll split stakes on the 2 mentioned and back both to win rather than each way betting. Although I respect the fav the price seems short against 3 serious rivals. For BBOTD purposes I'll take Termagant to win.
