Southwell 10th Aug (AW)

Recommended Posts

3.15 Southwell Course form is vital around southwell and robby bobby does much better on the AW than turf, last won off a mark of 89 at lingfield runs off a mark of 90 today, does need to improve on recent efforts but johnston has a good record here Also big surprise to see crimson mitre such a big price having won over CD last time out off a mark of 65 runs off 72 today is a step up in class but this event does look as though its gonna take much winning. 0.25pt e/w robby bobby 10/1 bet365 bog 0.5pt e/w crimsom mitre 8/1 bet365 bog 3.45 Southwell Andean margin seems to be enjoying a progressive seasn having won off a mark of 57 and has since put a neat string of good placings together and now has to run off a mark of 75 today but doesnt look to harshly treated with all this progression, and hasnt been round southwell since that win so maybe back to winning venue will bring the winning spree back 0.5pt e.w andean margin 4.15 Southwell Stoneacre lad has shown such little recently on turf or last time seen on all weather when running off a mark of 93 but runs off a mark of 80 today and last won at kempton off a mark of 95 so could be well handicapped today! 0.5pt e/w stoneacre lad 4.45 southwell first blade the only horse coming into this with any sort of real promising form and won round here in gritty style last time out just 3lb higher 0.5pt e/w first blade

Re: Southwell 10th Aug (AW) 3.15 Southwell This is a cracking little handicap for Southwell and all eyes will be on Kensington Oval, sent north by Sir Michael Stoute. Kensington Oval is a fascinating entry here, not least because the trainer is a rare visitor to Newark (only 4 runners here in the last five years, one winner) but also because his four year old gelding left many scratching their heads after his third at Newmarket last time out. The son of Sadler's Wells won his debut in a Sandown maiden but failed to build upon that last year, and in two starts in handicaps this term has finished third on both occassions. He is undoubtedly a better horse than those placings imply and it is unlikely that the trainer would have persevered with him if this wasn't the case. Jimmy Fortune is booked and that also points towards a big run. Fortune is another rare visitor here and has had only 21 rides in the last five years, but he's won seven (S/R 33 %) and his booking may be significant. Robby Bobby acts on this surface but is an in and out performer, Crimson Mite has been progressing nicely on sand but is stepped up in grade and Ella is another than would have claims if all is well after a break (although may not get the race run to suit here). So for the winner I'm returning to Kensington Oval, who holds a speculative entry for the valuable Ebor handicap at York later this month and who needs to start fulfilling his potential. 7/2 Paddypower.
