Curragh 12/7/09

3.45 Curragh There looks to be plenty of pace all across the field here with the likes of Fol Hollow, Douze Points and Fly By Magic lining up and with the majority of the runners prefering to race prominently. I've looked for one that will be drawn low towards Fol Hollow, as I think that may be where the stronger pace comes from, and have backed Invincible Ash. The booking of Seamie Heffernan drew me into this one, but she seems well drawn too and has some cracking bits of sprint form, typical of a Group 3 horse more than a handicapper. She ended last season by chasing home Borderlescott in a listed race at Dundalk and the margin of defeat was a neck. Even allowing for the fact she was getting 9 lbs from the Bastiman runner it was decent form. This season she seems to have resumed on an upwards curve, narrowly going down to An Tadh on her reappearance before a highly respectable third to Inxile in the Naas Sprint Stakes in a listed contest in June. The winner is a genuine Group 3 horse and the second, Miss Gorica, with whom she was running off levels, was a decent fourth in a fillies Group 3 at Fairyhouse recently and has won since to boost the form. Trainer Mick Halford does well around here, his filly is a distance winner and she ran well here as a juvenile on soft ground when second to Sudden Impact. 16/1 Bet 365, EW.
