I am going to start a thread for pointers to the days racing ahead with snippets of information that should help in the quest for those elusive winners this early in the season. I'll be utilising current trainer form and past 14 days performance in certain types of races, draw stats and any other snippets of information that can help. SANDOWN Since 1998 the record of all favourites from double-figure draws in handicaps at 7f or 1m is just 5 wins from 45 runs (in other words high-drawn horses tend to be overbet in big fields at these distances). Draw stats for these courses are not conclusive largely owed to the fact most courses are watering to negate previous biases. Although a watching brief of the first couple of races at Newcastle is advised due to the rain around. It's a meeting that can have a significant bias towards low draws when the ground is riding towards soft! HOT TRAINERS (Past 14 Days who have runners today) Mark Johnston - 12 Wins from 57 runners 11 of those winners have been 3 year olds races out of a possible 30 that have contested. John Gosden - 10 Wins from 47 runners 8 of those winners have come in class 4 races or above out of a possible 39 that have contested. 6 of those winners have been 3 year olds races out of a possible 30 that have contested. Andrew Balding - 5 Wins from 24 runners 4 of those winners have come in handicaps out of 16 that his horses have contested. Also note not included in above stats that he has had 1 horse run over the jumps which won in a chase race. He has not had any other jumps runners!
