teaulc
On Wednesday, Harrah's Entertainment, Inc. announced that pre-registration is now open for the 2009 World Series of Poker. The 57 bracelet events are scheduled for May 26 - July 15 at the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino, with the "November Nine" returning to play the Main Event final table Nov. 7-10. Capacity is limited, meaning once an event's maximum number of entrants has been reached, the event will be declared a sellout. "As now customary, no alternates will be seated," said Jack Effel, WSOP tournament director. "We encourage players to pre-register early to guarantee their seats," he added, since seats will be sold on a first-come first-serve basis. Players can pay their entry fees with cash, cashier's checks, wire transfers, or Rio casino chips. Foreign entrants paying by wire transfer will receive the exchange rate into U.S. currency at the time of the transfer. Buy-ins for the 57 events of this summer's WSOP range from $1,000 to $50,000. There are three $1,000 events, including the Ladies No-Limit Hold'em World Championship (Event 17), the Seniors No-Limit Hold'em World Championship (Event 43), and the "stimulus special" No-Limit Hold'em event (Event 4). There are numerous $1,500 and $2,000 events on the schedule, including several hold'em tournaments. There will be a total of ten $10,000 buy-in "World Championship" events, including the Main Event (Event 57). There is a special $40,000 No-Limit Hold'em event (Event 2) to commemorate the 40th year of the WSOP. And the $50,000 World Championship H.O.R.S.E. event returns for a fourth year (Event 49). The full WSOP schedule, as well as information regarding tournament structures, official rules, room reservations, and media guidelines can be found at the official WSOP website, www.worldseriesofpoker.com.
