13-00 Wetherby

Ten Carat

Last ran 16 ago here at Wetherby over 20f and put in a decent performance finishing 4th. Had some good form over the hurdles this time last year and on similar ground. Trainer has decent form here at Wetherby & is in decent recent form.

Bobs Hope

Is 16lbs up from his last run over in Ireland, though I don’t see why as he hasn’t shown any good form; 5th place seems to be his favourite.

Hapthor

Had a couple of runs this month; finishing 7th in a class 3 and 4th in a class 4 LTO. Remains the same weight for today’s run though has a 3lbs claimer on board unlike before. I think she has to be dropped a few pounds to get involved.

Kings Maiden

Makes hurdling debut here; not had much form on the flat and I’m not sure if she can get going here. Trainer is not in excellent form.

Present

Drops 2lbs for today’s run here (though with only a 5lbs claimer on board it levels it up). Has had a win on similar ground back in July; and a decent 2nd in August at Market Rasen. Trainer is not in glistening form.

Corso Palladio

Back to hurdling after his new trainer decided to give him a go on the flat. Has never really had any form over the hurdles in the past though.

Kinfayre Boy

Only one career win in a class 5 where he was heavily under handicapped. He is up 24 pounds since that run and struggles slightly at it. Has a 3lbs claimer on board so that eases things a little. Will need a good run.

Moon Melody

Has raced mainly at class 5 without much luck and steps up to class 4 after a 2nd at Southwell LTO. Is up 1lb since then though due to jockey losing his claim he is really up 4lbs.

Odd Socks

Hasn’t ran for 187 days & wears a tongue-tie for the first time. Has only ever ran on soft/heavy ground with little success. Trainer does have a great record here with 21% win-rate & 41% place rate from 185 runs & is in good form at the moment.

Apsara

Has not got a good record at races where he has raced in after a break, which is the case today. Trainer has a decent record here, though is not in good form currently.

All runners have big marks against them and not 1 stands out as a good bet. Odd socks with trainer record is a factor though. Ten Carat has at least had some form.

Suggestion:

Ten carat E/W 4/1 (SLF) :hope

Prince De Bersy

Had a good run out a fortnight ago in a class 3 at Cheltenham; finishing 3rd. Is 5lbs up on that run today. Has a good record on the good/firm going with three 1st’s, two 2nd’s and two 3rd’s from 9 runs. Pipe has a good record here from his 7 runners, though isn’t in good form recently.

Tempsford

An American horse in good form with two wins and a place from last 3 runs; all within the last few of months. Likes the going & Jonjo has a denect record here at Wetherby & is in decent form. Has been rattled up a massive 9lbs though since LTO & is therefore running off a career high mark.

Ryminster

Won over this distance LTO 13 days ago at Kelso in a class 4, over softer ground though. Has ran 4 times on good/firm in the past year and a half; winning two & finishing 2nd in the other two. Trainer has decent record here & is in decent form with a few winners.

Bushido

Course & Distance winner, though isn’t in the good form as he was this time 3 years ago! Finished 3rd LTO in a class 4 chase at Carlisle; seemed to have stopped running for the best part of 3 years & trying to get him going again this season.

Innisfree

Hasn’t finished a race since May this year and hasn’t had any real form since mid 2007 in chases.

Emerald Destiny

Hasn’t got much career form especially on the firm ground. Trainer has decent record here though isn’t in great from.

Sea Cadet

Only 2 wins in 20 runs & not much form coming into this after being pulled up last two outings.

Ngong Hills

Won his first race LTO; and it was here at Wetherby. Same trainer as Emerald Destiny though will probably go much better than his stable mate.

Keltic Lord

The oldest horse in the race comes into this race off the back of a few decent performances; finishing no higher than 5th in his last 7 runs starting in August. All those runs came on similar goings as we have here. Up 1lb since LTO though still a stone and 8lbs lighter than Prince De Bersy. Could go well.

Festival King

Bottom weight comes here off the back of a defeat to Ryminster at Kelso. Has he got what it takes on the firm to turn it around?

A much higher class of race here and certainly a few in with a shout. Prince De Bersy, Tempsford & Ryminster all have good recent form esp. Tempsford though has been hit hard by the handicappers. Keltic Lord also may fancy his chances.

Suggestion:

Can’t decide at this time who I just back E/W; its going to be either Keltic Lord or Ryminster. I’ll have a look in the morning and the decide! :hope
