Cool Roxy:

Course & distance winner here. Ran a good race at Huntingdon 19 days ago, though that was on softer ground (2lbs down from that run also). Has a good record on Good/Firm ground over the last year and a half (2 wins plus 7 places in 10 races). Trainer has no form at this course or no recent form at all! Jockey has a good record here and could fancy his chances.

Cathedral Rock:

Course & distance winner here again, yet hasn’t ran for 210 days. Has only ever run on softer ground, with the closest run as to what we have here was good in places where he fell. Wears the visor for the 1st time here today & Trainer is in good form with 4 wins in the last 9 runs. Jockey also has a decent record here, but will he cope with the firm ground?

Irish Wolf

Hasn’t ran for 188 days, though Trainer has a good record here with 16% win rate & 33% place rate. Has quite a good record on firm ground and that’s where most if not all of his good form has came from. Been pulled up in last 3 races so hasn’t completed a race since December 2007.

Big Rob

Another who hasn’t ran for a considerable length of time, coming here after his last race 225 days ago. Has a decent record in Chase races with the odd win here and there, but nothing spectacular. Trainer has a fabulous record here with 27% win rate & 63% place rate, though overall recent form hasn’t been that good. McCoy has a good record here and will certainly want to improve even more though.

Ballybough Jack

Last run 68 days ago, decent performance at Southwell on softer ground. 6 days before that ran at Southwell on firm ground and put in a sterling performance to win by 6 lengths & seems to like the firmer ground. Trainer with not much form, though the jockey has a good record here.

Thistlecraft

Course & distance winner here. Ran 19 days ago putting in a decent performance at Huntingdon, though dropping a lb here today for his troubles. No real good form on the firm ground except for a win back in November 2007 at Kempton.

A fairly open race, though you can rule out a couple for starters.

Suggestion:

Cool Roxy Win @ SP (9/4 SLF)

Monzon:

Has ran 4 times since September and has won two, finished 2nd once & 3rd the other, so is in tip-top shape. 3 of those runs have been at very similar going to this today. Jockey has a decent record here & his trainer is certainly not in bad form.

Scots Dragoon:

Has had 3 runs since August finishing 1st, 2nd & 3rd. The most recent being the win. Trainer has an excellent record here and is in fine form recently.

Creinch:

Two races this month; a 2nd & a 3rd. Another horse in good form though most recent run (2nd) was on softer ground than we have here today. Trainers not in particularly good form though has a good record here at Fakenham, and Jockey also has a good record here.

Mutual Respect:

Had a good run in September on similar ground though was over hurdles and not the more difficult chase jumps. Trainer likes it here, but can he jump the jumps?!

The Good Guy:

Not ran for 92 days when he finished at Uttoxeter. Another horse trying to step up to the chase category. Trainer in quite good form, though his record here is pretty awful.

First Feerie:

Another runner who has not ran for a fair amount of time (153 days), and stepping up to the chase. Has decent form over hurdles, though trainers not had much form recently & none here at all.

Monzon, Scots Dragoon & Creinch are the form horses with Creinch the least of the 3. Monzon & Scots Dragoon are to be fancied, with maybe trainer course form just sneaking it for Scots Dragoon.

Suggestion:

Scots Dragoon Win @ 6/4 (SLF) Monzon E/W @ 6/1 (SLF)
