Does anybody know what happened to the winner of the first at Kelso Yesterday?

Recommended Posts

Not sure if anybody saw the opener at Kelso won by a horse called Box Wallah?? The Anaylsis in the RP read The Five Year Old was weak last year, According to his trainer, But has now filled out and maybe sent chasing. However his current hurdling mark suggests there could still be opportunities in this sphere. But yet in the result section below his name & Sires etc it reads: Help up, steady headway halfway, Chased winner approaching 3 out, Led before last , Held on well, Finished Lame, DEAD. How do you work that out???

Re: Does anybody know what happened to the winner of the first at Kelso Yesterday? mments In Running A competitive handicap for the grade that was run at a moderate pace, but the runners finished very tired, suggesting the going was a bit softer than the official good to soft. Having previously raced only on soft ground, conditions seemed to suit BOX WALLAH. Closing down the leader from three out, he led at the last and stayed on dourly to see off the late challenge of the second. The five-year-old was weak last year, according to his trainer, but has now filled out and may be sent chasing. However, his current hurdling mark suggests there could still be opportunities in this sphere. Humourous was always up with the pace and stayed on steadily, challenging the winner on the long run-in before giving way close home. A confirmed stayer over hurdles, his previous best efforts have been on faster going, but he does like Kelso, so maybe the ground conditions are not the most vital factor with him. He could win again if turned out again within three weeks or so. Representing a stable that haswon this race previously, Jane Doe stayed on well and improved on her previous hurdling runs, though the overall profile is a moderate one. Kirkside Pleasure, also from a stable that has found success in this race previously, has been out of form for a long time, but stayed on here to show a bit of improvement on his recent runs, without promising much for the immediate future. Merigo had been chasing last season and was well backed on his seasonal reappearance to make the most of a 13lb lower hurdles mark. He was given every chance, but when asked to close on the leaders it took forever for him to make up the ground, and he then looked to blow up in the final furlong. This thorough stayer needs a longer trip and will be better back over fences. The race had a tragic end after it was found that the winner had struck into himself which severed his tendon, and he had to be put down.
