Meydan City 4.20 Goodwood (WIN) Looking at the field Hartshead Maison is out of form, Pinpoint and Mr Aviator don't look good enough and Tranquil Tiger has been playing up recently and running over further. Purple Moon will possibly need further and need the run but is respected and Many Volumes is too short due to the amount of 2nds on its record and the repeated comments of "always just held" suggesting it finds no more when asked. Meydan City ran over 12f last time out when I backed Centennial. I commented that connections have said the horse needs good or good to firm ground which it has today but it also looks more suited to 10f and is still progressive and only 3 yr old. Godolphin will want to recoup some of the money they paid for it at the sales and they have a very good record in this race with victories in 2007 (with a 3yr old - Kirklees), 2006, 2005, and 2003. Some of the field are respected at listed level but this horse is unexposed and has more potential to be a group performer than most of the others. It was in touch last time out but faded like it didn't get the trip, back to 10f it's a real danger and at 6-1 well worth getting stuck into.

Re: Goodwood - 24/09/08 Agree with all of that Mowgli except about Many Volumes. I think he is a battler who has found one to good a lot of the time. Probably best on turf too (below par on AW lto). Hearthstead should go off in front with MV tracking. Hopefully Meydan City will pounce late. Ginge
