Laying Horses - Value

Recommended Posts

As the title suggests, just wondering peoples opinion on when they get lower prices from their own experience laying favs or 2nd favs on . Some pros suggest first thing in the morning? Others suggest five minutes before the off, as liquidity comes in and drives prices lower. What do other layers think? Grateful for thoughts!

Re: Laying Horses - Value Hi BTB, I don't lay horses that often, in theory every horse has a price to lay it and a price to back it, at any time. However, when something is a lot shorter than I believe it should be I have to wonder does someone know something I don't. My results seem to bare that out too unfortunately.But... Like every bet I think every individual price should be judged on it's own merits whenever you look at it. Can not see how better liquidity means shorter prices to lay. Poor liquidity generally means a poorer price to back horses whether a short price or outsider. Therefore a better lay price. It stands to reason, if you are a good judge then the easiest way is to lay it is when there is poor liquidity (say the night before), provided someone takes your bet of course. When they are betting to 115% rather than 101% just before the off. But I stress you have to be a good judge of prices if you bet before bookmakers prices are known! Know the table of odds and chances off by heart before you atempt this. I know, I know, YAWN! Just my thoughts Beatthebookies for what they are worth. Ginge
