Re: Pontefract- Sunday 27/07/08 The main reason I'm backing this one is because of its name and because of the football team I support :lol...... 4.25 Ponte Flying Bantam. Sentimal reasons aside, it is not without hope completely. It won at Ayr a couple of runs ago off a 3 lb lower mark and the 3rd from that race has won twice since (inc off 73). IMO CD form is important at Pontefact because of the steep hill coming up to the line, and this one did win over CD in its younger years. Has won off a 12 lb higher mark in the past and although ran badly at York LTO, may not have liked the heavy ground. Trainer (Richard Fahey) in decent form and claimer takes off 7 lbs. Up against it a little but I'll have a little wack anyway. 0.5 pt EW
