Nottingham - Saturday 5 July.

Recommended Posts

6.20 Nottingham. Jarvo. Lay. Racing Post Sp 4/1. Had a good season so far and won more than his fair share, but with that comes added weight and with bombing out badly last time it appears that a busy sort of season mixed with rising weights is catching up with him. Several others appear better weighted on recent exploits and so at an SP of 4/1 he'd be much more a lay than a play, irrespective of the end result. If he goes and wins, then hats off to him.

Re: Nottingham - Saturday 5 July. 8.20 - Hunting Country - Mark Johnston's horse turns to handicapping here, starting off a mark of 76. On his debut run at Hamilton he finished 4th, the winner is rated 80 now (but hasn't won in two runs since), 2nd is now rated 70 and remains a maiden, whilst 3rd recently scored on its handicap debut at Hamilton in a class 6 race off 75. However, the best form appears to have emerged from Hunting Country's second run, in which he finished a 3 length 2nd to Military Power. His rival followed up on his handicap debut in a class 2 race at York when rated 83, and 3rd has just won off 72 in a class 5 handicap at Bath. 4th has just scored at Thirks in a class 4 handicap off 72. HC's last run came at Windsor over this trip and on similar ground and he disappointed, being sent off the 9/4 fav but failing to see out the final furlong. However, none of the other candidates convince me greatly here so I'll take a chance that HC can reproduce that Redcar form.
