Analysis of this race centres around a favourite which is long odds on Castletown Boy who I feel will not like this ground. Last time out it won well at Cartmel over 2m 2f in good to soft ground, however analysis of that race shows Timmy Murphy purposely steered this horse wide on the better ground. The time before it probably put up it's best performance in 2nd place on fast ground against Or D'Oudairies at hexham over 2m 1f. Previous to that it hated the heavy ground and pulled up at Ayr behind Curahee and it's only one time it could possibly be looked upon as putting in a performance on softish ground was when it finished 2nd legless beaten 9 lengths behind Blackpool Billy! however Raysrock was going to win that race handsomely when it unshipped going clear at the final flight. This favourite is not one to be taking too short a price about on this type of ground. The one I like against it is a horse that has promised to be a decent enough animal having been put in for the champion bumper but finishing midfield. Looked a bright prospect when twice winning in ordinary bumper company, including on fast ground here; subsequently fetched £95,000 at January sales, better was expected when well beaten on hurdling debut; however, should come on for that and remains a likely player at this level. His action suggests some ease in the ground may suit him better, even though he has coped with fast conditions on the level. I am taking a chance here that this horse will be more willing as it's action suggests in this ground against the favourite! Odds are good enough to warrant an each-way bet as if it gets placed we will have a small profit! :ok
