slapdash
For anybody out there with last-minute-itis, there's a satellite on Pokerstars for the WSOP Main Event at 9.30 BST on Sunday with 200 seats guaranteed. Buying in directly costs $370, and there are currently 1544 registered (which would be over 300% added value), but I'm sure that there'll be a lot more, and I have no idea whether there'll be any added value by Sunday. There are lots of cheaper satellites of various kinds to get into this. GazBlades and I have both qualified to play in it. ... any others? happyhornet
Re: 200 Seat Guaranteed WSOP Satellite on Pokerstars This was mentioned elsewhere, but if you have a Step 3 WSOP ticket, you can enter the Step 3A which is a 10 man STT where the top two go through to the 200 Seat guaranteed:ok. Although I didn't do very well in Step 3A (took nine tries to qualify) I didn't feel the standard was frightening, although it seemed very variable. Maybe once I felt outclassed, but two or three times the field seemed extremely weak/loose/passive with frequent pots unraised preflop with about 5 people in, at least during the first three levels. Step 3A is $82 to buy into directly. Step 2 is a $27 buy-in (9 players). Top 2 get a token for Step 3A (or Step 3). Next 2 get another go at Step 2. Fifth gets a token for Step 1. Step 1 is a $7.50 buy-in. Top 2 go to Step 2. Third gets a replay at Step 1, Fourth gets $1.50. These are all turbos (5-minute levels). I've been most successful at Step 2. I've had more than a 40% success rate of getting to Step 3/3A starting from Step 2 (includes times I've replayed, or dropped to Step 1 and got back up). Starts at 4.30 PM for the New York bagel-bolters, and 1.30 PM for the Californian muffin-munchers.

Think you can also buy into step one with FPP's (500)

And to higher levels (for more FPP, obviously). If you buy in with FPP you play with other people who buy in with FPP. I haven't noticed any difference in standard between the cash/FPP games.
