Best Bet Of The Day - Monday 9th June

Recommended Posts

Brave Bugsy (7.20 Pont) This recruit from the NH scene showed promise on his flat debut when finishing a close forth in a mile and a half maiden. Three of the other four horses involved in the finish had already been rated in the 60's by the handicapper and taking into account weights carried and distances beaten, you would have to rate Brave Bugsy a rock solid 69 on that showing. After showing little in two further runs in maidens the selection was allotted a mark of 57 for in his first run in a handicap and was potentially a 'blot' but ran poorly on his first start for the Andrew Balding stable. However he left that form well behind when winning next time out of a mark of 54, only winning by a neck but with the first two finishing well clear of the remainder. That form was franked when the second that day won by 6 lengths eased down next time out ! Brave Buggsy is up in class today but is potentially still well treated despite being 1lb out of the handicap and the Balding stable seems to have hit a purple patch. Seven runners so far in June have produced four winners and two second places.

Re: Best Bet Of The Day - Monday 9th June 4.30: Newton Abbot: Monty's Tan Ran well last time out from this mark in a conditional jockeys hurdle to finish 2nd at Fontwell. Had a bad year last year but seemed rejuvenated for the fontwell run by return to former trainer Evan Williams (had previously competed well from chase marks in 90s with this trainer 2 yrs ago). Faster ground today will undoubtedly suit; McCoy takes over on board (55% strike rate with stables hurdlers in last 5 seasons) and stable form currently looking solid - every chance of winning for first time in 2 years. Main danger looks to be Cee Cee Rider WIN :hope
