Valverde is the best sprinter of today's front running contenders, but I'm not convinced he will push as hard as he is preparing for a bigger objective. Even so, Sanchez still has the acceleration to beat Valverde on merit and as long as there is no big breakaway today he will definitely figure in the top few riders. Last year Bruyneel played the two ace trick, sending one of his dangerous men in the break forcing other teams to chase if they wanted to close the threat. Brajkovic is a very logical choice to sent out today - he is a talented climber, he is far enough behind in the GC to get a bit of latitude from most teams, and if Caisse-Depagne want to try and chase him down that gives a chance for Levi to try and launch a counter.All in all 31s is a super price, given the rider not only has the ability for this tough mountain stage but also the favourable circumstances.
