Re: Newbury 18/04/08 3.15 BOUGUEREAU looks like having more than a fighting chance in this one. Is being targeted at the Italian Derby, and will need an easy win here to confirm he is up to that type of standard. Should have improved for his seasonal debut when he won easily at Pontefract, and must have every chance here in a pretty poor looking race. The best rated in the field in terms of form and time, and should be very much there at the finish. RPF 7/4 2.10 KAL BARG is my selection here. Has a decent each way chance, as I think PRAVDA street may be hard to beat. The selection has decent form in the book, coming 3rd behind Ibn Khaldoun last season at Ascot in a pretty hot race. Kal Barg has to prove it in these conditions, but in my opinion, he is a class act and should be able to handle the going. Other than Pravda Street, I don't see much else capable of winning this one. He is one of my horses to follow this season, and I expect a decent show here tomorrow. 2.40 OLDJOESAID has an excellent each way chance of RPF odds of 9/2. Goes well fresh, and can handle the going - which may prove to be a major factor here tomorrow. With just 9 runners in the race - this has got to be a strong each way selection, for a yard that has been successful in this race in recent years.
