Best Bet of The day - 24th March

Recommended Posts

:ok 1pt win 5.15 Warwick - Trysting Grove he hasnt won on turf for 2 and a half years, but recently under saleem golam he has hit a decent run. Won last month over this trip but at a lower grade, since stepping up in grade has not been disgraced and should go close yet again. And shorter trip should help him.

Re: Best Bet of The day - 24th March Namir 2.20 Warwick (EACH WAY) I've seen this horse a few times at Pontefract and it seems to always try its best, a genuine sort and often ridden by Amir Quinn. Highest ever winning mark is 71 and goes today off 74. It was 2nd off 75 rating at Ponty on soft ground in July 07, only beaten 3/4 length in a class 3 race. It was also 2nd off 75 at Sandown on good to soft in a class 4 race in June 07. Last year it had a race on the all weather at Wolverhampton over 6f before making its seasonal turf debut and won its turf debut on good to soft over 5f. It ran only 9 days ago at Kempton over 6f, was well beaten but probably running more for fitness than anything else. It's last run last season saw it finish 7th but the finishing distances were 1/2l, nk, nk, 3/4l, 1/2l, and short head. Comments after that race were: Quote:

Namir had a stiff task from his wide draw and the way he kept on in the final 100 yards suggested that he retains a fair amount of ability - he was placed from his current mark earlier in the season and ought to give a decent account next time if dropped 1lb or 2lb.
Now down to 74 rating, has won on soft and good to soft, placed on good, won on good to firm and firm. 4 wins, 2 seconds and 2 thirds over 5f from 23 races. Has won from class 3 to class 6 level. Seems to prefer softer ground these days and this could be ideal. Drawn in stall 2 so may have a rail to run against (not sure of draw advantage here). Horse looks to be out of form but 3 of last 6 races have been over 6f and never won over that distance. Many opponents also out of form so the 16-1 available looks quite generous at the moment.
