Analysing times...

Recommended Posts

I am interested in doing some time analysis on the Champion Bumper. When analysing times is it best to work to a standard calculation for different types of ground or are times on different types of grounds not comparable? I know there is access to course times on the racing post website.

Re: Analysing times... Times are best compared with other times on the same course, on the same going, on the same day, comparing them with standard times. They do not have to be over the same distance / obstacles. Some tracks are stiff like Cheltenham and Towcester others are sharp like Kempton and the new Haydock so comparrisons are fairly meaningless. Trouble with bumpers is they are seldom run at a good pace, very often with a pedestrian early pace. A winner of a slowly run race may still be a good horse, just the early pace was slow. Think what you are trying "j" is sadly, practically impossible. Sorry can not be of much help. Ginge
