Newbie and need a bit of advice please.

Recommended Posts

Hi guys I am new to the site and I am just after a little of advice. I have been into horses since february and every now n again on a saturday i will get the racing post and read the form and pick a few horses. I haven't been doing a lot but I do enjoy it and I am thinking of doing it religously on a saturday from now on. I have learned that value is a biggie in racing and I just had a query today. I was in the bookies looking at any horces to pick today and I came across 2 that I thought were certain to win but they were both odds on fav's and as I am only betting small stakes I decided to not bet as there was no value in it. I decided in the end to go with Yellow Flag at Fakenham £1 EW as I felt the trip was right and drop in class McCoy would get a v good ride today. As it happened the other 2 horses won and I would have had 3 from 3 today to go with my 4 from 6 at Cheltenham on Sat. My question is basically was I right to avoid the 2 odds on and go for the other race at 4-1? Any advice would be great. Thanks Gavin:nana
