Chepstow 13/10

Recommended Posts

Noted this one LTO 3.40 FRANCHOEK ran exceptionally well on its debut after some decent performances over the flat. Will no doubt be fit & hopefully that first outing has given it the confidence it will need. Chepstow is a track where stamina is required with the long straight to the finish.

Re: Chepstow 13/10 First up is at Chepstow 1.25 and Natal. Natal has shown to be a nice chaser at times last year for Nicholls. At times a touch inconsistent but he ran well enough to take some good races last year including a Grade 2 at Kempton. He can act on quicker ground as shown in his younger days. He does have to give weight around and also there is a bit of a question about stamina but I feel that having developed over the summer that will not be a problem and he is classy enough to give weight.

Re: Chepstow 13/10 Next is Chepstow 2.00 and Liberate e.w @ 10/1. This is a tough task to concede a lot of weight for the Triumph runner up but I do feel that this price is too big and that he is good enough to give weight around and if not win then still place. Liberate was a classy performer and often highly thought last year and showed that in the Triumph with his second to Katchit. I think he will like the quicker ground today and a decent season awaits.

Re: Chepstow 13/10 3.05 Chepstow 18 line up in this 2m4f handicap hurdle, Class 3, with the bookies going 5/1 the field: Grecian Groom (13/2 >Betfred) - Jonjo / AP partnership here, but much more than just that to recommend this horse. Won lto only a week ago which means it comes here in great heart. Won relatively easily over a shorter trip than todays, but no signs of stopping so this trip will be ok. That race was in same grade as this and, although this looks tougher, should be thereabouts again. The firmer the ground, the better for this horse and with good ground expected, no issues here. Other than the odds on short he rides later in the day, looks like AP's best chance of a winner today. Nice EW price. I'm also putting up a bigger priced selection in: Gold Gun (20/1 SportingBet) - Alison Thorpe has 2 in the field and this has the best chance, with Seamus Durack taking the ride. Stable in decent form, as is the horse with form figures of 411B2 in the last 3/4 months. Won 2 in the summer in Class 4 but efforts in this grade have been equally as impressive, 2nd lto when staying on well. Unexposed type and should go well. The one concern would be the step back in trip, however with a strong pace, it shouldn't be a problem and this come-from-behind type could be ideally suited by Chepstows long straight. Overpriced for me.

Re: Chepstow 13/10 2.00 Pouvoir Gwankako missed all last season with injury and has to be respected for top trainer who can get them ready but may just need the run first time out not to sure what his form is like from France. Liberate class hurdler last season 2nd in the Triumph but has to give a lump of weight away today so could be best left alone. Pouvoir so impressive at Kempton eariler in the year, disapointed at Cheltenham at the festival did show signs of coming back into his old self lto although just the five runners, today recieves a nice weight and is from a trainer who does very well with his younger hurdles. 4.15 Surprised to see Theatrical Moment as big as 8/11 thought this would be much shorter. I know it's a short price and first time jumping in public but did look different class last season in the bumper races. SHould really take the beating here
