Some interesting types in an open heat but I'm plumping for: Desert Commander (RPF 7/1) - I would like to take a price about this horse, but no PL access at work so posting it now. Quirky horse, who generally finishes either first or last, and I'm hoping for the former today. Down 1lb from lto, and well drawn in 2 at one of its fav tracks, Ripon (2 from 3 here). Is 4 wins from 15 career starts, so clearly knows how to get its head in front but when you delve deeper, there are some really interesting stats:- 3 from 9 over this trip, 3 from 6 on GF or better (which it faces today) but just 1 from 9 on other ground and 4 from 7 when racing Cl 3 or worse but 0 from 7 in Cl 2. Is 3 from 4 in handicaps when at Cl 3 or worse, with only defeat coming over an inadequate 5f. Conditions are right, and should go very close today.
