Re: Golf- US Open Im on Zach Johnson £25 e/w @ 50/1 ( top 6 ) 1/4 odds. detailed reasons on another thread - Hornet, dougal etc.. give some good in-depth reasoning behind e/w outsiders and have been pretty successful with it - look out for these posts this week. Being played at Oakmount Country club - this course is a fcuking monster, Ernie Els saying this weekend its plain-crazy what they have done with it, and Tiger is predicting around 4 or 5 over could win this ! the 8th is a 288yrds par 3 ! which can increase to over 300 yards if the pin is placed at the back of the green ( which knowing the pin placements for any u.s open this is a probability ) some players wont even reach the green with a driver, it also has a 100yrd long bunker into the bargain ! It also has a 667 yrd par 5, the longest in major golf history. Richie Ramsay - young scottish amateur having a great season, doing well in the U.S, last year was the 1st British golfer to win the U.S amateur tournament since 1911 - 1000/1 currently available, he plays with tiger woods on the opening round on Thursday - playing with great players sometimes brings out the best in you. Johan Edfors - The swede in good form also - 3 european tour wins last season and been in America for a while now, played well in the tour event last month ( memorial ) and could be a sneak outsider for a place - 450/1 Tiger is the favourite but interesting hes as high as 3/1, I think his missus is a about to give birth which maybe distracting but he has been practising on the Pennsylvanian course for the last week solidly. This is monty's return to his close-call for the open in 1994 - blew a lead at oakmount on the last day then lost to Els in the play-off, was unlucky ( if not stupid ) last year at winged foot in the open - requiring a par 4 at the last hole to win it he took a double bogey 6, its always been said if he where to win an major it would likely be the U.S open as the courses are tough and require accurracy in iron play which was a forte of monty - 150/1 just now. Chris de Marco has also lost 2 play-offs in this tournament and plays with Monty - he could also have a good tourney.
