They won last three games in a row including the win on Colo Colo in the CL. These wins coming after two draws with Belgrano and away at Boca Juniors highlights River Plate current good form. They are thus unbeaten in last five and in the Clausura in last four. River Plate can be expected to deliver a great game tonight at 12^th placed <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Colon who are also unbeaten in their last five. But Colon drew four of these five games winning one four games ago. Colon have drawn the most in the Clausura, six draws in eleven games, winning two and losing three. They will look for at least another draw here. But I believe River Plate who conceded only one goal in three games while scoring five, much stronger and in better form and able to extend their winning run to four. They are at only 4 points from leaders San Lorenzo and 2 points from Boca Juniors. The only defeat of Estudiantes was at home to excellent Boca Juniors. They are unbeaten in their last seven games with two draws and five wins and they can be expected to get a win tonight Nueva. Nueva Chicago show a very poor record for their 12 games with 3W-3D-6L and a goal tally of 9-19 and they stand at five places from bottom. Nueva won their three games on the teams in the lowest part of the table away at Colon (13th) and at home on second-bottom Belgrano and third bottom Banfield. At home also, Nueva lost at home to Arsenal by 4-0 and twice drew 0-0. Estudiantes should have a quite easy win here and I would go for the win with the (-1 EH) at 4.0 @ Stan James 10 points:nana

Velez are now free from the Copa Libertadores and concentrate more on the Clausura. But overall they have not yet been performing to expectations and are in the lower half og the table with only 4W-2D-6L in their twelve matches. They are on three defeats in a row of which one at home to 11^th placed Rosario Central. From their last ten games they won only two on poor Emelec in CL and Banfield who are at 3^rd bottom seat in the Clausura.

Velez will have to raise their game if they want to get something tonight when hosting the leaders San Lorenzo who lost only one game and drew only one in the 12 Calusura games they played up to now. San Lorenzo lost only to the second team Estudiantes four games ago and are on a three wins streak.

I would see San Lorenzo confirming their excellent form tonight and get the win here. I choose the away side with the – ¼ ball @ 2.04 @ Pinnacles:spank

The game between Belgrano and Quilmes is one between the last two teams of the table of the Argentinian Clausura. Quilmes have one point less but have played one game less. This will be a hard fought game between these teams who will look forward to avoid the last spot.

Belgrano are the bookies favorites as they play at home and also I believe thanks to their slightly better recent performances.

In fact they lost three of their last six games to some of the better and in-form teams of the Clausura in Newells’ 0-2, Argentinos Juniors 0-2 and away at Arsenal Sarandi by 4-3. They managed in the other three games a 3-0 win on Copa Libertadores participant Velez and drew against high-flying River Plate and good Racing Club.

These performances are decent for a team standing at second-bottom place and show that they have not been outclassed in this Clausura. They can be expected to deliver again a decent performance.

For their part Quilmes lost their last three of their last four games winning one by 2-1, two games ago on out-of form Colon. This was their only win form last eight games in which Quilmes lost five and drew two.

Quilmes seem very limited against stronger teams and Belgrano tonight can be high opposition to them as Belgrano have done well against the good teams of the league. Belgrano play at home and will attempt to seize the opportunity to pick another three points.

For Boca Juniors it is always difficult to play in the local tournament and in the Cup in the same semester. But Boca is facing this two-fold commitment with a lot of courage and good soccer and succcess. And the results have been favorable to them. With the game against Arsenal Boca will have played eight games during the month. But there is no respite. In the next two weeks it will face another four commitments (Libertad within the Libertadores Cup (first and second leg) and Quilmes plus Gimnasia within the Clausura tournament). But Boca managed to get to third spot in The Clausura while still keeping their seat in the Copa. Thei are aiming today to reduce the 3 points gap fro San Lorenzo if not take the lead of the Clausura. Boca scored 16 goals in last five games and fifteen in 4 before the last 1-3 defeat to Vele. They should be winners over Arsenal who have won on poor teams but will have difficulties against such a good team as Boca Juniors.
