230 Ripon - Southandwest - ew @ 8/1 williamhill A warm favourite for this entitles us a good price for the 2nd favourite Southandwest here. An admirably consistent horse, his only "out of the frame" runs came when on unsuitably soft ground at Ayr and in a Class 1 race where he ran a respectable 5th of 8 at Sandown. The ground has come up for him here and the trip is ideal - John Egan rides, for his only mount of the meeting - is that significant? 3.05 Ripon - Never Without Me ew @ 16/1 betfred This ones interesting off a 1lb lower mark than the won he won off over C&D in June last year. A few average efforts followed off his revised mark but he ended the season with an eyecatching run at Beverley when finishing a decent 6th of 13 from the worst of the draw in stall 1. The first 6 home were drawn: 16, 17, 12, 13, 10, 1. This seasons debut was decent enough, staying on well to finish 4th after meeting trouble in running and also has a small weight pull with the favourite Melachrist who finished 2nd and had the advantage of race fitness.
