Well as the title says, Is it just me ? Been playing online for about 2 years now, about a year (?) ago had my first live game at the Betfair tourny in Canary Wharf. Since then have played a few games, PL tournies and cash games in casino's etc although not yet played a major tournament in a casino. The last couple of months have been itching to play more live games and finding it harder to get motivated by on-line poker :unsure I'm going to try and start playing live at least once a month now, the internet "desire" just aint there at the moment. mcfook and myself had a (drunken) chat about this at Wolves and he echoed similar thoughts re online poker, anyone else ? any suggestions ?

Re: Is it just me ???????? I will probably stop playing online for a bit but will probably give up freerolls and low stakes forever, I'm not being arrogant :unsure I just dont enjoy them and it takes time away from what I want to do and that it is to earn money at poker. I now play live maybe once a week but will probably step it up to two and see how it goes. By the way Gazza what drunken conversation I dont remember it :(

Re: Is it just me ???????? I'm going to go against the trend here. I still enjoy playing online as much as when I started over 3 years ago. It isn't a patch on playing live in a PL game like last Friday but I prefer it to playing live with a load of people I don't know. There are too many times playing live when you see some ignorant/miserable/bigoted sod who spoils the game for the whole table. Don't need it.

Re: Is it just me ???????? I still haven't played a live game so can't really compare. What i will say though is i've been playing poker for just over 3yrs now and have cut back my playing dramatically. Obviously work does play a big part in this, along with having a Wife and family. I'm like MCFC66 on playing freerolls,i do still play these, but i'm more selective on them.Playing say a freeroll on Dreampoker for $7000 with 4,000 entries doesn't seem to appeal anymore. I do appreciate them though as it is through them which originally gave me my bankroll and they are an ideal platform for new players. I think like any good thing in life that you can "overkill" it. Nowdays i tend to play on betfair,a typical game with around 40 entries can last 3-4hrs :loon with a deep starting stack with a slow blind structure seems to suit my style of play. You can't really play too many of those in a day :lol

Re: Is it just me ???????? I think when you have sat down with chips and had a good craiqueckek (sp? :unsure) with a bunch of mates the online world of poker seems sterile and it has you googling the local card room schedule to see when the next game that appeals is on. We're lucky at our local card room because they're a decent bunch who don't suffer the idiots gladly and are quite happy to put them in their place. However when you take into consideration the much slower pace of offline poker you realise that there is a place for both, as a 'small' tournament with less than(?) 100 runners lasts over 6 hours in real life. I love live poker and find I can get away from sticky situations easier, but still enjoy tremendously the online game. Jomell, do yourself a favour and come along to the next PL poker meetup. I promise you you won't have a better introduction to the live experience. :ok

Re: Is it just me ???????? Live poker all the way for me. I haven't played online since I cashed out of Boss at the end of the year. I play in the casino at least once a week and I'm showing a healthy profit already this year. You should get the same atmosphere playing online. I like the social aspect and the fact you know when a player is drunk and can take their money from them. It might also be down to the fact my internet at home is goosed and I'm forced to play live. :) Still, I'll probably not go back to online play for quite a bit.
