Re: Betfair Grand Prix3 password

he has a point in both posts
All i would say is surely the people who have bought the magazine should not be stopped from playing because the password has been broadcast on a forum and the freeroll has been filled with people who will probably sit out when the game actually is. As i think happened in the christmas Poker Player freeroll. Also if the forum's rules are not to broadcast passwords then end of story, post it on another forum if you feel that strongly about it.:ok

Re: Betfair Grand Prix3 password

He's got no point and we make the rules here and since you've blatantly broken one of the main rules' date=' you now have a 24 hour ban, which is given to [b']anyone who posts passwords. Just ask Swampster, even the World Strip Poker Champion made that error. ;)
I thought I got banned for threatening to expose my nuts in the pub afterwards ?

Re: Betfair Grand Prix3 password I didn't say he was right, just said he had a point, isn't a forum a place for open debate/discussion? Just ask yourself, who is it harming? is it you just being selfish because you want to limit the field? There was a Pokerplayer freeroll today PP dedicated a whole page to it, I believe there was only 80 entrants (how many readers). As an affiliate do you think Pokerplayer would have been happy with that? do you think Gala would have been happy with pokerplayer? The only happy person is that guy that beat a small field. As Robot has said pokerplayer is essentially a free magazine - you dont have the right to passwords just because you subscribe. I subscribe to pokerplayer but inside edge and card player I just pick up for nothing in the casino. Do you think Woods and Dacey are bothered how the password is obtained as long as the numbers are there? Yes he has broken the forum rules and the banning stick had been wielded but is he wrong???

If they weren't, why would the tournament be password-protected? Presumably they spend money on these freerolls to build readership for their magazine or keep existing readers. It doesn't help them if people play in the tournaments without ever even seeing a copy of the magazine.

If they weren't' date=' why would the tournament be password-protected?[/quote'] I guess to track and to demonstate to the site where the players have come from I wouldn't put my mortgage on it but I'm pretty sure pokerplayer are fronting none of this money cant see why, if they are on an affiliate program why should they care, the more the merrier

Sorry Brian, but your answers are as you state, guesses. PP password protect it and we have to respect that, whether it's the right decision is down to PP, but our rules are no passwords on the forum and that won't change, or chaos is around the corner.

Re: Betfair Grand Prix3 password

Brian, Slapdash and GaF have made the points I was going to, so no need for me to continue. This is a hard place to run at times and we have to put rules in place. These rules are discussed in great depth I can assure you, that way we know we have things right. :ok
not saying you, slap, gaf or the rules are wrong its just something the guy said struck a chord with me. and great for you they have been discussed but have they been discussed in the open forum

Re: Betfair Grand Prix3 password Yep, no passwords is a fairly clear rule, supported by the magazines and whilst you can get the magazines free in UK casino's not posting the passwords helps to limit the number of entrants to those who have legitimate access to the mags. Posting the passwords means that you get tons of freeroll only jockeys joining in and turning these comps into a farce. If the magazines wanted a total freeroll then they wouldn't bother making it password protected.

In the olden days (ie 2004) when these kinds of tournies started to become popular, you could tell by member's responses to these password hunters that they weren't welcome. As the forum grew we had to make a decision. Do we allow password sharing to go on the open forum or not? We felt that to allow it would alienate us from poker rooms and publications, and it would also attract hundreds of one post password hunters. We also realised when we have these great freerolls we didn't want someone who only joined PL cos it was an easy way into a high value freeroll ($1000 and less than 100 players at the time). How could we be indignant about gatecrashers if we encouraged our members to do it themselves. We felt it in PL's best interests to try and act from a position of integrity and, and I know during Poker God, Alun B (Inside Edge editor) thanked us for the stance we took. I know it can be a pain in the arse sometimes but I feel its the right thing to do.
