tqb
Hi, I'm off to vegas in 9 days and I thought I'd try and rack the brains of the experts in the poker forum before I go! :ok I'm going with the missus so it's not going to be all poker, but when I do get 'off the leash' I want to make the most of it.... :nana I've played a fair bit online and I've got myself ~$1000 bankroll to play with over there. My preference would be for NL cash games but I've got no idea what's available and at what levels - I play 10 seater 50c/$1 NL online but get the impression I may need to play at a higher stakes level to get a game over there? What do you guys recommend? Anyway, any advice greatly appreciated as to where I should play. Also if there's anything we should definitely not miss whilst we're there let me know. Oh and it's the missus birthday whilst we're there so gotta plan something nice for that too :) Not sure if it makes a difference but we're staying at the Flamingo and the Hilton and we're there for about 5 days. Cheers guys. :hope

Sir Puntalot
Re: Help! Las Vegas Trip Poker Advice Needed.. Get yourself over to the Imperial mate, the standard is quite poor. Around $60 entry and they get about 60 entries. I didn't cash myself in the twice I played, but I did get taken out by stupid bad beats. However, Pene cashed twice, I think 7th and 3rd - well worth taking a look. :ok

Thanks for all the replies - great info. I'm currently taking a look at allvegaspoker.com. Nice to see that the pictures all look 'normal'. msaban
Re: Help! Las Vegas Trip Poker Advice Needed.. we stayed at Luxor, played there, excalibur, aladins, MGM and Binions, maybe more cant really remember. The better poker IMO is off the strip and in downtown vegas - however more tourists on the strip, so if they dont get lucky your on an winner, when their 93o beats your As despite a massive preflop raise, then you not take too friendly to it. I loved Vegas, but could have done without 2 weeks after the trip to get over it, its a very busy place, I cant wait to go again. Enjoy Mike

I'd heard that maybe it would be better down town but wanted to see what people thought. When it comes to playing with muppets - as long as I can get my money in when I'm ahead I'll be happy - no matter what happens. Honest. ubermonkey1
Re: Help! Las Vegas Trip Poker Advice Needed.. the $50 luxor stts are not a bad bet:ok get there at about 3 or 4 oclock to pick up the fish coming off the beginners table. most of the larger casinos the minimum cash game is $2 $4 but off strip this comes down a lot ,same with all the table games. blackjack in the bigger casinos is a bit of a risk as usually its a $25 minimum where as off strip its more like $1 minimum. on the whole the rake is usually a lot better off the strip ,so if you want to play more cash games i would go there . but for tourneys the smaller strip hotels seem about the best value (alladin, ip etc)and they tend to have more tourneys as well. if you get a chance and funds permit get a helicopter to the grand canyon it really is worth the money:eek . also i would recommend having a look at vegas.com as it has a lot of good info on there. as for eating out etc pretty much all the hotels have excellent places to eat and drink(i dont think ive had a meal that was not great in the 2 times i have been)you will be spoilt for choice:ok enjoy yourself and give us a post once you come back ,as a few of us are going mid november .so nice to get any info.
