2damnhype
I know its a long way off, but I noticed that sportingOdds had gone up with their market for who would make the European team for the 2008 Ryder Cup. Luke Donald Yes 1/10 No 5/1 Sergio Garcia Yes 1/10 No 11/2 Henrik Stenson Yes 1/7 No 4/1 David Howell Yes 1/6 No 7/2 Colin Montgomerie Yes 1/3 No 9/4 Paul Casey Yes 1/6 No 7/2 Jose-Maria Olazabal Yes 5/4 No 4/7 Padraig Harrington Yes 1/6 No 7/2 Darren Clarke Yes 1/6 No 7/2 Lee Westwood Yes 5/6 No 5/6 Ian Poulter Yes 5/6 No 5/6 Robert Karlsson Yes 7/4 No 2/5 Johan Edfors Yes 11/4 No 1/4 Nick Dougherty Yes 11/2 No 1/10 Paul McGinley Yes 3/1 No 2/9 Thomas Bjorn Yes 11/10 No 4/6 Graeme McDowell Yes 7/2 No 1/6 Miguel-Angel Jiminez Yes 10/3 No 1/5 Justin Rose Yes 7/2 No 1/6 Have seen this market offered in the past, and am pretty sure that players of the calibre of Donald and Garcia would have been 'no offers' - the only way I can see them failing to make the side is through injury, they both play a lot of their golf in America and so have definitely benefited from the introduction of the World List qualification. Would be a bit of a shock if Casey and Harrington failed to make it, but as its singles only those four are way too short for me. The ones that interest me are: Darren Clarke Lee Westwood Clarke's year has been well documented and he has stated that his sons are his priority over golf. It will be interesting to see how his schedule pans out. If he isn't playing a great deal then I cannot see him being able to rely on Faldo giving him a wildcard entry. Bearing this in mind I reckon the 7/2 for him not to be playing in 2008 could prove a pretty big price. Lee Westwood, he has been one of the stars of the last two Ryder Cups, he fully justified his wildcard pick this year. His career hasn't got back to the heights of the turn of the century, but he does seem to be getting some of his game back. Think 5/6 to play is a fair price.
