swampster
I'm heading up there mid-October for a wedding, but got a couple of extra nights to kill, so naturally...... any recommendations for venues there ? I know there's the casino (Gala ?) but is the Cincinatti Club still closed down after the summer raid ?
DAN DAN
Re: Poker in Glasgow Oh dear swampster, judging by the overwhelming response there can't be anything happening in Glasgow, I personally was watching to check out where was best to go to as well as a live outing locally is needed soon. brael
Re: Poker in Glasgow I'm sure rednutt said she'd been to the Cincinnati club recently... Something I've never done is gone to a casino in Glasgow to play... just can't find the time! :eyes

-ed-
Re: Poker in Glasgow Well, arrived home at 5am this morning very drunk after a night out in Glasgow. My first effort at live poker went ok, 80ish starts and I finished 30ish after maybe 2 and a half hours play, I had no re-buys but last hand before the break a flush against my KK cleaned me out, so I had an add on. It was strange playing live, tried to play as I do on line so folded a lot, couple of times when I bet into a pot everyone folded :loon my big grin may have given it away.. Even had a turn at dealing, not once but twice I turned a card over whilst dealing, very embarassed but the guys at my table were all ok, they knew it was my first time:$ .. When I called the casino last week I explained that I had won an on line event to a big tourney and needed to try playing live, word must've got out cos a guy said "oh are you the big internet player?" :lol I replied, "yep" I did enjoy it but I know I need to improve if I'm to make a show at the Masters, still, first time and a lot learned.. On a positive note, I went with the mole and we were halving, mole finished 5th for £160 :lol I intend to get at least a few more live sessions before Brum, going to maybe go midweek with Diane for the £5 buy in.. :D So, if anyone has any advice, tips or whatever re live play then feel free to share them with me as I am keen to take on anything that could help :ok Ed :cheers

glceud
Re: Poker in Glasgow The Riverboat used to be the place to play in Glasgow as it was the first to open a cardroom, but the last couple of times I've been in the turnouts have been very small(less than 20) Still a very nice place though. Havent tried any were else but the cincinnati is the busiest from what I hear. Think you should try there next -ed- in your rise to stardom. It wont take at all long to get used to live play and it's a million times more fun than internet play especially in such a multicultural city as Glasgow.
