2 for Wednesday's matches. I will sort out Thursday and Friday's matches nearer the off for them. 10pts Derbyshire to beat Northants Evs Skybet Derbyshire come into this match 4th in the table and chasing a promotion spot which will come a lot nearer to them if they win here as 2nd and 3rd play each other this week. Northants are bottom and don't really have a great deal to play for now. Derby will be missing Michael Di Venuto and Graeme Welch here so Steve Stubbings will continue the captaincy. Steffan Jones is fit to face his old club though. Travis Birt is in excellent form with the bat and Derby have lots of batsmen that chip in around him. Derby is a pitch where you can bat 1st and then bowl a side out twice as the pitch deteriorates. Their bowling attack is good and they have taken 35 of a possible 39 bowling bonus points. With Northants batting lineup hit and miss currently their bowlers will want to get stuck in here. Northants play this match just over 12 hours after finishing a tough Pro40 match with Sussex. The travelling and things won't help preparation and motivation might be lacking with them bottom of the table. Northants don't have a proper wicket keeper due to injury so Bilal Shafayat fills in. That's ok in a 1 day match but not ideal over 4 days. Monty Panesar plays for Northants which will help but if Chris Rogers doesn't score many runs Northants might not giving much to defend. Derby coach Dave Houghton was working for Sky at Northants' Pro40 match with Sussex so he'll have seen them close up and will know what to expect. I think Derby will be all out to win as their final 2 matches are tough and I think they will win. 10pts Worcestershire to beat Essex 1.90 Expekt 3rd placed Worcester entertain 2nd placed Essex here. When the 2 sides met in the reverse fixture Worcestershire won by 9 wickets. It's highly likely that the winner here will go on and take the 2nd promotion spot. Worcester are at full strength and having gained some momentum in the Pro40 recently they will want to carry that on with success here too. They have a strong batting lineup which often scores good runs to help their bowlers. Their attack is very good as well and they are a tough side to beat, particularly at the New Rd home. Essex are without Darren Gough who is with England. Alex Tudor comes into the squad. The Eagles have looked a bit jaded recently and their success this season could be catching up with them. Their batting lineup looks good on paper but they've not delivered as they should in the Championship this season. Darren Gough will be a big loss to them with the ball but Tim Phillips being in good form with his off spin will be helpful. Worcester are a good side who know how to win at New Rd as I said and with this effectively being a promotion shootout will definitely be up for this match. Their home record is too good to oppose and I'm with the Royals here.
