Saturday is the C&G Trophy final at Lords between Lancashire and Sussex. I don't normally bet so early on cricket matches but this is a price I don't want to miss.

10pts Sussex to win C&G Trophy 6/5 VC South Conference winners Sussex meet North Conference winners Lancashire in this Lords showpiece. Sussex come into this match with much the better recent one day form. Having come so close to Twenty20 qualification they've since won 3 of their 4 Pro40 matches, losing only to leaders Essex but more importantly beating Lancashire. Lancashire however made a mess of Twenty20 and are yet to win a Pro40 match. Sussex will be at full strength for the match. Michael Yardy, recently called into the England 1 day squad will be able to play. Sussex's strength is their bowling but their batting is a very underrated weapon I think. Matt Prior, back in form with the bat, opens the innings well and Adams, Yardy and most important Murray Goodwin score the runs in the middle of the innings. With a tight, experienced and solid bowling attack Sussex often restrict opponents to low totals which benefits them as they are a side who like to chase in 1 day matches. Lancashire's strength undoubtedly lies with their batsmen. Mal Loye looks to get their innings off to a flier and Astle, Law and Chilton look to score the runs in the middle of the innings. However the concern for me is their bowling attack, even more so at Lords where the slope makes lines and length so important. As we saw in their last Pro40 match vs Middlesex, their bowling can go round the park, particularly with so many youngsters in their attack. The pitch at Lords is sure to be a belter on this occasion and it could be the bowling which settles this contest. Sussex have the better squad for me. They have plenty of winning momentum and have the knowledge that only 3 weeks ago they beat this Lancashire side in Pro40. Many people will underestimate Sussex and that may cost them. The Sharks are getting used to the big occasion and I strongly fancy them to be lifting the trophy come Saturday teatime. There are lots of side markets around for this match. I'll look into them over the next couple of days and post any I fancy nearer the day.
