Stanford Cup Twenty20 Cricket - Final

Recommended Posts

Tonight sees the final of the West Indies version of the Twenty20. Guyana play Trinidad & Tobago and it's live on Sky Sports 1 from 11.30pm. Stan James have priced up so I'm having a bet! 10pts Trinidad & Tobago to win Stanford Cup 5/6 Stan James Trinidad have looked so impressive so far in this tournament. It is them who beat fancied Jamiaca who are generally regarded as the best of the Caribbean sides. Guyana's route to the final has been somewhat easier. Trinidad have in their ranks many WI internationals past and present. Darren Ganga and Ricardo Powell are hard hitting batsmen, as is Dinesh Ramdin and Merv Dillon is a seasoned pro with the ball. However despite such talent it's 2 of their lesser lights that have caught the eye to date. In the semi final Kieron Pollard took the game by the scruff of it's neck by hitting 83 runs off 38 balls and all tournament long Samuel Badree has been by far the tournament's best bowler. Guyana's main household name is Ramnaresh Sarwan. He's yet to fire in the tournament though and it's fellow West Indian internationals - Narsingh Deonarine and Mahendra Nagamootoo who have shone so far. However in the semi final Leonard Cush top scored for the Guyanese. The feature of Guyana to date in the tournament have been limiting sides to low scores thanks to the ecomical Nagamootoo. They don't have a particularly aggressive batting lineup though and that could well be their undoing. Man for man the Trinidad side is stronger and they have played the better cricket in getting to this final. They so many names who have performed on the big time that they have to be the call in this very lucrative final.
