jeffster
Re: Project WSOP 2007 - BELIEVE!!!!! Of course, I would love to get to the WSOP too, but I am sure I read recently that the 2007 WSOP may likely move to May / June.... Could be dreaming though, cos I have read a lot of Poker mags recently : Subscribed Mags : Poker Player WPT Magazine Inside Edge Magazines acquired from the Stanley Casino free of charge on Saturday Night : Poker Europa Flush Card Player Europe I am sure one of em mentions the 2007 WSOP moving forward... Now, where's my Harrington books ? :loon:hope Definately one of my goals for the next 11 months..
GB80
Re: Project WSOP 2007 - BELIEVE!!!!! ESPN want them to move it forward, but their last circuit event doesn't finish until 23rd May, so they won't be able to start the whole thing until the start of June. That would make the main event start around the 2nd week of July. Of course, I would love to get to the WSOP too, but I am sure I read recently that the 2007 WSOP may likely move to May / June.... robilaruk
Re: Project WSOP 2007 - BELIEVE!!!!! thanks Joe and why play a long term -Ev game? odd really Damo We got a deal in late July which is peak season and it was £750 for flights and hotel, so add that to entrance and you`ll need about £1800 plus spends. But as Pen said, play Blackjack and you`ll be laughing!

ubermonkey1
Re: Project WSOP 2007 - BELIEVE!!!!! im definately up for the $1500 next year :nana .the last couple of years my buisness partner has taken all of august for holiday(hes got a big motorhome +kids).so i havent even tried to get in via sattelittes etc, because there is no way i could take the time off :sad next year is gonna be a bit different as hopefully its been moved earlier in the year,so i will be able to make it:nana :nana :nana . im definately gonna try to qualify for the main event and the $1500 .if they are on similar dates next year you would only need about 12 days over there ,so might as well try for both . if i dont manage to qualify then i will buy into the$1500 and like morls see where i go from there,it should be pretty easy to bankroll with online winnings. so one way or the other i will definately be in the $1500 and hopefully the main event:hope
GaF
Re: Project WSOP 2007 - BELIEVE!!!!! Finally finished off my first 1000 Points to enter one of the Blue Square freerolls - was harder work than I imagined!!!! So won't get in as many of these as I hoped ..... but will make a few more I think - not going for the early one - might try the later one tonight (or save it for tomorrow) I started off on Paddy Power, but couldn't earn any points there - all it would do is subtract them from the existing Promotional Points total!!! So I'd have had to clear 5000 before I could even start counting them!!! So I moved over to BlueSq and have played there..... Why do some of the poker rooms make things so hard for you???? You can contact a host and cancel whatever promotion your going for on Paddy power. Don't know if they'll credit whatever promotional points to AP's but no harm in asking.... robilaruk
Re: Project WSOP 2007 - BELIEVE!!!!! the house edge at blackjack is at best around 1% (if you are a decent player - if like me you are crap, it prolly closer to 3%!) so for every £100 you stake, they get to keep £1 and you end up with £99 so in the long run you lose (ev=expected value) Hope this helps Damo and why play a long term -Ev game? robilaruk
Re: Project WSOP 2007 - BELIEVE!!!!! the previous post summed it up best as the best footballer you want to play for your country at the world cup I think for me, the experience of playing in the WSOP for the first time is paramount - the money is a bonus! of course the 2nd time I play in the WSOP it WILL BE FOR THE DOSH! slapdash
Re: Project WSOP 2007 - BELIEVE!!!!! the house edge at blackjack is at best around 1% Unless you're a card-counter. And according to a friend of mine who's tried that, it's bloody hard work. And from Paul, Pene and Joe's descriptions of their fun at the blackjack tables, it doesn't sound as though bloody hard work was involved! AJ
Re: Project WSOP 2007 - BELIEVE!!!!! Card counting doesn't work anymore, for several reasons, one many casinos have auto shuffle machines on the tables, secondly (and this pisses me off a lot) some casinos are now paying 6/5 on blackjack, not 2/1. I've played a lot of blackjack over the years, yes 1% is the expected loss, but you should be able to make this up in comp points and free vodka tonics. If you play blackjack for a few days, and finish anywhere close to even in cash terms, but get lots of drink and perhaps a few nights comp'd off the hotel bill, then as far as I'm concerned you've come out very far ahead

AJ
Re: Project WSOP 2007 - BELIEVE!!!!! The card-counter I know plays in Reading casino, is teetotal, and lives 10 miles from the casino ... ... but maybe they still pay 2/1 for blackjack in Reading? i'm sure they do still pay 2/1 in reading (in fact all of europe, and about half the tables in vegas too, but mostly the higher limit ones, only the poor get screwed with bad odds, lifes a bitch eh ?) But the point remains with card counting, in order to make the odds in your favour, you need to vary your stake according to the count, when it's positive you need to bet very high, 12 units into a count plus 10 and above is normal, and bet low when the count is negative, 1 unit bet. If you sit at any casino in the world at a blackjack table and vary your bets in this fashion, you may as well put on a t-shirt saying "i count cards", you'll be banned and black booked within the hour. Now if you have a team of spotters and players working together where one counts, and the other big better only appears at the table when the count is high, bets huge, then leaves when it falls, your in business. But this is very difficult to do, and the casino is watching very carefully for it. I've spent years researching the subject of blackjack btw.
